Senior Estimation Engineer

This role is required to be on-site – candidates should be able to be at the office in Lake Mary, Florida
Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Lake Mary, FL is looking for a Senior Estimation Engineer. The company’s mission is to provide power generation equipment solutions to customers.
SUMMARY
The position requires a candidate that have leadership skills/characteristics to collaborate with different departments and complete a wide variety of complex estimating activities for quoting power generation equipment and associated project execution services. In this role, the selected candidate will apply experience and expertise, and will be exposed to various types of projects, internal clients, shall become familiar and follow company’s and project’s practices and procedures. Also, the selected candidate should be able to discuss and understand technical specifications, proposal strategy, and be very organized to prepare documentation that serves as backup of the cost estimates for products and associated project executions services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares estimates used for bidding equipment and associated services in a budgetary or firm basis. Understands the basis of the cost estimation and ensures alignment of proposal stakeholders inputs with the overall strategy of the bid/proposal.

Leads commercial proposals’ stakeholders to follow company’s procedures and to properly file documentation.

Provides guidance, direction, and specialized assistance for the resolution of complex estimating problems. Assists Proposal leads with preparation of schedules for estimate preparation, review, and publication.

Assists in the maintenance and improvement of cost data management and supporting systems.

Collaborates with Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Project Management and Commercial groups to determine appropriate cost estimation basis.

Contributes to improve cost estimation guidelines and procedures.

Interfaces and communicates proactively and effectively with other departments to obtain inputs to the cost estimates before or on established due dates.

Organizes and manages a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure the integrity of historical data.

Analyzes completed projects to benchmark estimated costs to actual costs and determine discrepancies.

Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs.

Identifies cost trends to assist management in cost reduction and process improvement efforts.

Must be able to create formal presentations, write executive summaries about project-specific cost estimates, and present results to the company’s executive management.

Ability to keep key stakeholders informed and engaged to minimize the probability of mistakes during cost estimation activities.

Must be fluent in and capable of conducting business in English. Spanish and/or Portuguese is a plus.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

B.S. in technical engineering, science, or construction discipline. Must have technical experience in project execution, proposal development (technical and/or commercial), applications engineering, power generation, EPC or construction fields.

Experience in large, multi-national industrial manufacturing or project-oriented corporation.

5+ years direct experience working on positions related to power generation equipment, or a combination of education, training, and experience to meet the position requirements.

Must have extensive Microsoft Office knowledge.

The position requires frequent conference calls between 6pm and 9pm with corporate headquarters in Japan.
