Role Overview

 

The Senior Manager, Market Analysis – Data Center Strategy leads the planning, developing, and executing of marketing analysis for MHI’s equipment and service products to enable data center solutions. Working with the MHI Data Center Energy Management (DCEM) leadership and for the Mitsubishi Power, Americas (MPWA) team to provide insights on the market, customers, and competitors, supporting strategic decision-making.  The Senior Manager is responsible for guiding the team in analyzing trends, scenarios, and business data to help drive MHI DCEM’s growth strategies and ensure successful planning and execution.

 

Key Responsibilities  

 

  • Leads market analysis efforts, evaluating trends, competitive landscape, and customer needs in data center energy management systems, including power distribution, UPS, EMS, cooling, microgrids, battery storage, backup generators etc.

 

  • Develops and maintains comprehensive industry, competitor, and customer models, including market share analysis, growth projections, and forecasts.

 

  • Provides strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership based on market trends, customer demands, competitors, regulations, and emerging technologies.

 

  • Develops and implements short- and long-term plans, strategies, and budgets for market analysis, in alignment with business objectives.

 

  • Builds strong relationships with internal stakeholders to ensure market intelligence supports the business strategy and enhances the use of market intelligence tools. 

 

  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences, and customer meetings to strengthen market presence.

 

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Demonstrate strong change management skills, effectively influencing stakeholders at all levels and adapting to evolving organizational needs, and responsibilities.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams and support hiring and development efforts as the team expands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements

 

To succeed in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The following are the required qualifications:

 

  • Education: 
  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in engineering, business, economics or a related field.

 

  • Experience:
  • 8+ years of experience in data center MEP and/or power industry as it relates to data center, with 2+ years of experience in a market analysis, business strategy, or a related field.
  • Experience working with data center developers, designers, or operators (e.g., Equinix, Digital Realty, AWS, Google, Microsoft, Schneider Electric, Vertiv) is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of data center energy system design and operations, including power distribution, UPS, EMS, liquid cooling, microgrids, battery storage, backup generators etc.
  • Proven ability to analyze data and convert insights into actionable business strategies.
  • Experience leading cross-functional collaboration, influencing internal stakeholders, and driving strategic initiatives.

 

  • Other required skills:
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills.
  • Fluency in Japanese is an advantage but not required.
  • Commitment to working with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at a time.
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills, capable of contributing to executive-level discussions.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% overnight as needed.
