Role Overview

The Senior Payroll Analyst is responsible for overseeing and ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations. This role will support the team with complex payroll functions, reporting, audits, and continuous process improvements. The Senior Payroll Analyst serves as a subject matter expert (SME) for payroll systems, tax regulations, and payroll best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Process, review, and validate payroll for multiple pay groups or entities on a biweekly/monthly basis.  Ensure employees are paid on time and correctly.
  • Serve as SME for payroll system transition.
  • Develop and document internal payroll processes and procedures. 
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, internal policies, and tax regulations.
  • Research and resolve complex payroll issues, including garnishments, adjustments, retroactive pay, and off-cycle payments.
  • Serve as a liaison with HR, Finance, IT, and third-party payroll providers.
  • Prepare and reconcile payroll-related reports including journal entries and payroll registers,
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and explanations.
  • Lead or assist in payroll projects such as system upgrades, vendor transitions, and automation initiatives. 
  • Train and mentor other HR team members, ensuring knowledge transfer and process consistency.
  • Continuously evaluate payroll processes to identify and implement improvements for accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of payroll experience, including system implementation and configuration.
  • Experience with large-scale payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, UKG, SAP, Oracle) required.
  • Multi-state and/or global payroll experience preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, labor laws, and tax requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills along with high attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and payroll systems reporting tools.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) and/or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preffered
