Role Overview
The Service Desk Intern will support end users with basic technical issues while gaining real-world experience in IT operations. Responsibilities include device setup, account provisioning, troubleshooting, documentation, conference room support, inventory management, and first-level support for networking, cloud, and applications. Interns will also help develop process automation and efficiency improvements, gaining valuable experience with modern IT tools and workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate clearly and professionally with both technical and non-technical users
- Log, track, and update support requests using the service desk system
- Provide first-level IT support by troubleshooting hardware, software, and basic system issues
- Set up, configure, and reimage laptops and other IT equipment
- Support conference room technology and manage IT inventory
- Assist new hires with onboarding and basic IT system training
- Create and update simple documentation such as how-to guides and process instructions
- Help modernize IT processes by identifying improvement opportunities and creating basic automation
- Work collaboratively with the IT team and escalate issues when needed
- Participate in IT projects and process improvement initiatives, including automation
- Handle sensitive information responsibly and follow security best practices
- Build automation in current processes
- Comply with all EHS policies, practices, and procedures
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals
- Contribute to building a positive team spirit
- Communicate effectively with all levels of employees
- Protect confidential information responsibly
- Maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity
Requirements
- Associates degree in a technology-related field such as Computer Science, MIS, Software Engineering, or Cyber Security, OR currently enrolled in such a program
- Ability to perform necessary mathematical calculations
- Ability to make judgment decisions based on specifications or technical requirements
- Novice knowledge of Office 365, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio, and Project
- Preferred knowledge of infrastructure, networking, and Azure cloud environments
- Preferred knowledge of systems such as Tanium, Endpoint Manager, SAP, CRM (Dynamics), Windchill, SharePoint SPO, MS Project, or other project management tools
