Position Summary


The Sr. Global Sourcing Specialist executes end-to-end procurement and expediting activities for complex and high-value commodities, equipment, and projects supporting power generation programs. This role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, leading commercial negotiations within delegated authority, managing supplier performance, and proactively mitigating delivery, quality, and commercial risks. The position partners closely with engineering, quality, logistics, and project teams while providing guidance to less experienced sourcing and expediting professionals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

Global Sourcing and Procurement Leadership

 

  • Execute sourcing strategies for assigned commodities, equipment, and services in alignment with project requirements, business objectives, and supply chain strategies
  • Develop and manage Requests for Proposal (RFPs), evaluate supplier bids, and lead commercial negotiations within delegated authority
  • Award and administer purchase orders, long-term agreements, and contract amendments in accordance with company policies and procedures
  • Assess supplier capabilities, capacity, and risk while recommending sourcing strategies and mitigation plans
  • Drive supplier performance initiatives focused on delivery, quality, cost, and continuous improvement
  • Support supplier development activities and cross-functional cost reduction initiatives

 

Expediting, Material Control, and Risk Management

 

  • Monitor supplier manufacturing, documentation, and delivery progress for complex or schedule-critical equipment
  • Identify and mitigate delivery, quality, and commercial risks while developing and executing recovery plans as needed
  • Coordinate and lead supplier expediting visits to support schedule adherence and issue resolution
  • Review shipment readiness, documentation, and logistics plans to ensure contractual compliance
  • Lead resolution of overages, shortages, damages (OS&D), invoice discrepancies, and commercial disputes
  • Analyze supplier performance and on-time delivery metrics and recommend corrective actions

 

Cross-Functional Leadership and Collaboration

 

  • Serve as a primary supply chain interface with project management, engineering, quality, logistics, and site teams
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and technical direction to sourcing and expediting personnel
  • Support leadership reviews by providing supplier risk assessments, recovery plans, and performance insights
  • Represent Supply Chain in supplier, customer, and internal stakeholder meetings as required

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and supply chain best practices

Knowledge, Skills, and Education

 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Typically requires 7-10 years of experience in global sourcing, procurement, expediting, or supply chain execution roles
  • Strong knowledge of global sourcing strategies, supplier management, contract execution, and expediting practices
  • Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations, manage contracts, and mitigate commercial and supply risks
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex schedules, technical requirements, and contractual issues
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence suppliers and cross-functional teams
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP systems, preferably SAP, scheduling tools, and data analysis applications

 

Physical Demands and Work Environment

 

  • Primarily office-based role with prolonged periods of sitting
  • Occasional standing, walking, and light lifting up to 10 pounds
  • Regular domestic and occasional international travel may be required
