Role Overview

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for managing, coordinating, and administering New Generation Services (NGS) projects from conceptual development through engineering, procurement, construction, start‑up, performance testing, initial operations, and contract closeout. This role provides leadership for high‑performing project teams and maintains full accountability for project execution, ensuring delivery meets contractual, safety, quality, customer, and Mitsubishi Power performance expectations.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Manage a single large‑scale project exceeding $200M or a portfolio of NGS projects.
  • Provide leadership to project teams, including line management responsibility for approximately two team members.
  • Communicate project status, health, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders, sponsors, customers, and senior leadership.
  • Capture lessons learned and conduct after‑action reviews with summary briefings.
  • Identify project risks, issues, and opportunities through detailed contract analysis and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and manage project baseline income statements using approved estimates, pricing, and DOR splits.
  • Provide regular cost reporting, forecasting, and financial performance analysis.
  • Oversee development and execution of integrated project schedules including critical path activities.
  • Ensure appropriate resource allocation, execution against plan, and recovery plan implementation when required.
  • Develop and execute change order technical, pricing, and execution strategies.
  • Lead all phases of projects using established program and project management methodologies and quality standards.
  • Control scope, cost, schedule, performance, and configuration through formal change management processes.
  • Provide timely performance feedback, resolve team conflicts, and support staff development.
  • Monitor schedules, spending, and execution to ensure delivery within budget and specifications.
  • Facilitate project status meetings and distribute meeting minutes and action items.
  • Review and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices and coordinate with Supply Chain on adjustments.
  • Prepare and submit change orders based on letters of authorization (LOA).
  • Complete project closeout activities including warranties, record drawings, retainage, releases, and final payments.
  • Support continuous improvement of project management practices across NGS projects.
  • Support Mitsubishi Power proposal development and bid activities.

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline required.
  • Minimum eleven (11) years of experience managing large power generation projects.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects or portfolios exceeding $200M.
  • PMP certification preferred but not required.
  • Strong ability to analyze technical, contractual, and financial information.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and reasoning capabilities.
  • Proficiency with project management tools, scheduling software, spreadsheets, word processing, and technical documentation tools.
