  • Must be currently enrolled in bachelor’s program in Business or Industrial Engineering at a four-year College or University. Sophomore or Junior year students preferred.

 

  • Work Schedule: Must be able to work 20-28 hours a week minimum. During School students can work a max of 28 hours a week during business hours and During school Breaks can work up to 40 hours a week as needed. (We will work around your school schedule).

 

  • Length of Internship: 1 Year Minimum and could extend longer OR turn into a full-time position with approved headcount.

 

  • Target start date is as soon as possible and must be able to work over the Summer.

 

Role Overview

 

This position is responsible for supporting supply chain personnel with ongoing project-based supply chain activities. This will include involvement with proposal work, procuring goods and services such as raw materials, equipment, tools, parts, supplies, and any other materials for the heat recovery steam generator “HRSG” for Gas Turbine Combined Cycle Power Plants.

 

The learning objectives for this internship will include a basic understanding of the Procurement Processes, from proposals to issuing Requests for Quotes to issuing Purchase Orders, Monitoring Vendor Performance, Maintaining Vendor Relations, records and working as a team member to ensure on-time delivery of materials, milestones and equipment required to support Project execution and the equipment deliveries. The Supply Chain Associate collaborates closely with supply chain teams to drive continuous improvement and ensure alignment with strategic goals.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Under the direction of the Principle Global Commodity Manager, HRSG:

 

Core Procurement & Sourcing Responsibilities

 

  • Provide support to management to meet corporate goals, project objectives, and overall business priorities.
  • Perform assigned duties as directed by group and department leadership.
  • Support commercial operations, applications engineering, plant engineering, project management, and other functions to ensure timely issuance and revision of Purchase Orders.
  • Create, revise, and manage Purchase Orders in SAP.
  • Understand, establish, and issue Requests for Quote (RFQ).
  • Review bid proposals for compliance with scope, budgetary limitations, and limits of authority.
  • Participate in the development and management of milestone payment structures for Purchase Orders.
  • Monitor contracts to verify supplier compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Maintain procurement records, including items/services purchased, cost, delivery, quality, performance, and inventory data.
  • Manage internal and external shared document repositories for supplier and project-related documentation.
  • Support standardization of supplier-facing documents.

 

Supplier Management & Performance

 

  • Manage the Approved Vendor List (AVL) by equipment and manufacturing location.
  • Conduct supplier performance reviews focused on quality, delivery, reliability, and financial health.
  • Lead or participate in discussions related to defective or unacceptable goods/services with quality, inspection, engineering, and suppliers to determine root cause and corrective actions.
  • Support resolution of HRSG procurement issues as they arise.
  • Drive initiatives to improve supplier communication and collaboration.
  • Collect, compile, and analyze supplier audited financial statements to assess supplier health.
  • Monitor industry trends, supplier performance, and macroeconomic factors using internal systems and public-domain resources.
  • Collect and analyze data related to domestic, international, and competitor suppliers.

 

Supply Chain & Cross‑Functional Support

 

  • Support Global Commodity Managers, Contract Execution Managers, Sourcing Specialists, Expeditors, Logistics, Buyers, and other supply chain personnel in procurement activities for capital equipment and new projects.
  • Support supply chain project management, expediting, and buyer deliverables as required.
  • Collaborate with Legal and Compliance to ensure adherence to company standards and applicable laws.
  • Support cross-functional initiatives across the Supply Chain Management organization.
  • Prepare sourcing-related project documentation and communicate project status.

 

Data Analytics, Reporting & Systems

 

  • Collect, clean, and analyze data from supply chain systems to support informed decision-making.
  • Perform data mining and aggregation across multiple systems of record.
  • Review and evaluate monthly global sourcing data to support business direction and growth.
  • Review historical costs, cost savings, usage cycles, and long-range forecasts for HRSG.
  • Develop and support KPIs, dashboards, and internal reporting to measure sourcing and process performance.
  • Build, maintain, and automate dashboards, reports, and recurring workflows.
  • Maintain and support business systems impacting sourcing KPIs and internal dashboards.
  • Support small- to mid-size analytics initiatives and assist with larger, more complex operational projects.
  • Review end-to-end business processes to identify efficiency gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities.

 

Process Improvement, Digitalization & Training

 

  • Support process automation and digital transformation initiatives within Supply Chain.
  • Assist with Microsoft Power Platform automations to reduce manual work.
  • Support workflow documentation and data mapping.
  • Compile and maintain training materials for sourcing-related business systems and processes.

Requirements

     

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree (BS) program in Business or Industrial Engineering at a four-year accredited College or University. Sophomores and Junior preferred.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, engineering drawings, engineering specifications for material, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and basic database. Power BI a plus.
