Role Overview

 

The Mechanical Technical Field Advisor III serves as the primary field technical authority on Mitsubishi Power projects, setting standards for equipment protection, injury prevention, quality execution, and professional conduct. This role leads complex mechanical installations including gas turbines, steam turbines, large frame generators, and auxiliary equipment, while actively mitigating risk to personnel, equipment, schedule, and cost. The position emphasizes first-time quality, strong site culture, and proactive risk prevention.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as the primary site-level mechanical authority for Mitsubishi Power–supplied equipment.
  • Establish and enforce uncompromising standards for equipment protection and intervene when practices threaten assets.
  • Lead high-risk and complex work planning including critical lifts, sensitive installations, and schedule-critical activities.
  • Drive a Zero Injuries mindset through leadership of JHAs, hazard recognition, and coaching of site teams.
  • Influence EPC and partner leadership to fulfill safety, quality, and contractual obligations.
  • Champion first-time quality execution through installation strategy development, readiness verification, and hold point enforcement.
  • Lead resolution of complex technical and equipment deficiencies impacting cost, warranty, or schedule.
  • Own and drive high-impact Project Action Requests (PARs), coordinating responsible parties and escalating as needed.
  • Support Construction Site Services Managers by identifying emerging risks and recommending corrective actions.
  • Mentor TFA I and II personnel to build technical capability, leadership confidence, and consistent field behaviors.
  • Shape site culture through visible leadership, accountability, recognition, and respectful engagement.
  • Prioritize field presence to support installers, prevent rework, and drive quality execution.
  • Ensure timely documentation and sign-off of erection packages, completion checksheets, and mechanical completion walkdowns.
  • Prepare and issue daily reports covering construction or commissioning support activities.
  • Maintain punch lists and lessons learned documentation for assigned work areas.

 

Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent power plant construction experience.
  • Minimum eight years of progressive mechanical field experience on large EPC power projects.
  • Extensive experience with Mitsubishi Power or comparable OEM GTCC installations.
  • OSHA 10-hour training recommended but not required.
  • Strong ability to analyze technical documentation and communicate findings clearly.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with databases, project management tools, spreadsheets, word processing, and technical documentation software.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 80%.
