Role Overview
The Commissioning Engineer – Technical Field Advisor II supports the commissioning of Mitsubishi gas and steam turbines under the direction of the site commissioning lead. Responsibilities include mechanical commissioning, testing, inspections, system flushing, design adjustment recommendations, and support of initial plant startup. This role is intended for candidates with foundational power generation experience, preferably in operations or commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow Mitsubishi Power and site safety requirements at all times.
- Execute assigned commissioning tasks for turbine and auxiliary systems under the direction of the commissioning lead or senior engineer.
- Support startup, operation, and troubleshooting of large frame gas and steam turbines.
- Interpret machine process diagrams and function diagrams related to gas and steam turbines.
- Inspect turbines and auxiliary plant equipment and report findings.
- Provide operator training prior to commercial operation.
- Apply thermodynamic principles relevant to combined cycle power plants.
- Complete documentation, test certificates, and drawings for site turnover.
- Oversee installation and testing of assigned systems.
- Report non conformance issues and interface with design engineering teams.
- Maintain required skills training log as directed by senior engineers.
- Participate in company sponsored training programs.
- Communicate effectively with staff and leadership while upholding confidentiality and integrity.
- Travel up to 90% domestically and internationally; maintain valid driver’s license and passport.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 2–5 years of experience in power generation construction, commissioning, or industrial operations; or equivalent experience and training.
- Knowledge of power systems, energy conversion, and heat engine design.
- English fluency required; Spanish, Portuguese, or Japanese beneficial.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills for evaluating machine and data related issues.
- Proficiency with office software packages and analytical tools.
- Ability to meet physical requirements including standing, walking, climbing ladders, and lifting 25–50 pounds.
- Ability to work in loud environments, at heights, in confined spaces, and in extreme weather as required.
