Purpose of the job:
Business Development Manager is expected to develop the carbon capture business in Europe. It is also expected to promote, materialize and enforce the partnership with potential/existing stakeholders including CCUS value chain players, EPC contractors, Licensors, and Research institute as part of global business strategy for carbon capture business of MHI Engineering (MHIENG).
Business Development Manager’s duty is to find opportunities, manage multiple projects, and align team members including MHIENG to secure new businesses and reach project completion. It also includes potential/existing stakeholder management in close alignment with MHIENG. Business Development Manager reports to General Manager of Decarbonization Business Department.
General Duties
- Identify and track project opportunities, analyze, and determine feasibility
- Lead client meetings and presentations; research and establish relationships with new clients
- Document and proposal management according to internal procedure
- Work closely with engineers and other colleagues to build customer relations and convey cost effective technical solutions
- Research and analyze impacts of regulations and incentives on customers and MHI
- Attend and present at industry functions, such as association events and conferences, and provide feedback and information on market trends
- Prepare internal reports, presentations, meeting notes, and provide feedback to management
- Function as the Project Business Manager on specific projects as assigned
- Prepare and/or assist with submission of pre-qualification and bid documents
- Collect information and conduct initial research to identify potential partner(s), and develop/materialize a relationship/partnership
- Arrange and carry out periodical meeting with partners to discuss the market view and exchange the project list under development, ongoing project issues, and action plans under partnership as appropriate.
- Promote partnership with local research institute or academic organization to enhance MHI’s In-country Value
- Make regular communication with all stakeholders to address day-to-day issues
Required Skills
- Experience in carbon capture, chemical, oil and gas or power (utility) sector
- Ability to grasp and willingness to learn technical concepts
- Strong written and oral communication skills. Ability to simplify complicated concepts
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop new contacts, network, and public speak.
- Strong research, qualitative analysis, and quantitative analysis
- Familiarity with EPC projects and contracts
- Ability to travel (both domestic and international) up to 20%
Education
- Degree required and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
