Job Title: Project Engineer

Position: Full Time, Permanent

Functional Area: Decarbonisation Business Department

Reporting to: Senior Project Manager of Decarbonisation Business Department 

 

Purpose of the job:

The Project Engineer is expected to support the carbon capture business in EMEA region.  This includes but is not limited to, collecting, documenting and analysing data, preparing cost estimate & proposals, technical evaluations, engineering documents and deliverables, communicating with customers to lead technical meetings & discussions, and working closely with i) process engineering and business development staff in MHIEMEA and ii) engineering departments at MHI HQ in Japan (such as project management, cost, schedule, process, equipment, machinery, piping, electrical, instrument and civil), to secure new business and execute projects.

General Duties

  • Responsible for preparing cost estimate basis & technical proposals with coordination of deliverables, overall schedule, scope of work between MHI EMEA and MHI HQ
  • Lead technical discussion such as proposal strategy and basic design concept
  • Control quality, cost and delivery (schedule)
  • Coordination among each discipline engineer
  • Review technical documents
  • Participate in technical discussions and meetings with customers and partners
  • Prepare and/or summarize the report (weekly, monthly, final)
  • Attend conferences, and prepare technical presentations
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Day to day communications and liaison with customers, partners, technical and business/commercial team of EMEA, and other relevant departments at MHI’s HQ in Japan to engage proactively on technical issues.

 

Required Skills

  • Experience in carbon capture, chemical, oil and gas or power (utility) sector
  • Experience in Feasibility Study, Pre-FEED, FEED and detailed engineering activities
  • Experience in Project Management
  • Experience / interest in Net Zero solutions and the wide carbon value chain
  • Ability to grasp and willingness to learn technical concepts
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to simplify complicated concepts
  • Ability to develop new contacts, network, and public speak
  • Strong research, qualitative analysis, and quantitative analysis
  • Familiarity with EPC projects and contracts
  • Ability to travel (both domestic and international)
  • Ability to motivate, and manage oneself, proactively managing workload and decision making through contact with appropriate team members when required.

 

Education

  • Degree required and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Chemical Engineering or similar and / or technology research background also preferable
  • Experience in both academia and the engineering world (practical / field based) preferred

Working Hours:  

  • Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week
