SCOPE

The OSM & Network Engineer II supports MHIA and its affiliates by assisting with IT services such as installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of network related hardware and software. Diagnostics of basic infrastructure services such as printing and file sharing. This team member will be working closely with the business team members at one of our largest affiliates to aid in OSM VPN configuration from their end-customer sites to the enterprise network.  Collaborate and partner with all IT Teams as needed to support and grow the ONETEAM mindset.  Manages ticket queues, maintains status updates frequently and performs analysis to support a path for proactive issue migration, where possible.

 

The ideal candidate will have at least 4 years’ related experience.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical team members, at all levels in the organization;
  • Develop plans, maintenance, support and monitoring of the company’s networking infrastructure and systems (LAN, WAN, switches, routers, firewalls, VPN, Wireless systems etc.);
  • Intermediate level troubleshooting technology related problems that may include service provider issues, routing and switching issues, datacenter performance, packet loss, latency issues, system connectivity and hardware failures;
  • Intermediate level experience evaluating, designing and implementing new networking configurations to meet business objectives as required;
  • Intermediate level experience with OSM architecture with regards to network configuration;
  • Provides network & backup server administration support to our affiliates through monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining systems as part of a technical services team;
  • Provides network solutions to meet the business and operational objectives aiding in business continuity solutions;
  • Follows standard administrative processes, and procedures for supporting production environments;
  • Maintains relationships with critical IT infrastructure service providers and ensure appropriate tasks are managed by in place service providers;
  • Evaluates and implements break/fix solutions as needed to improve network stability and performance across the client’s network landscape;
  • Plans and leads network disaster recovery initiatives as required;
  • Assures that network security best practices are implemented and maintained to ensure business security and systems continuity by working closely with the Security Team to implement the proper hardware/software/configurations as required;
  • Performs software & hardware upgrades / patches on network devices and related software;
  • Maintain high-level and detailed knowledge on the computing, network, and security industries, best practices, and evolving technologies and security threats;
  • Act with accountability in mind, identifying and interfacing with all key stakeholders in a professional manner;
  • Plan, manage and lead assigned projects to completion with delivery of agreed objectives, within specifications aligned with deadlines and budget management;
  • Champion a positive team spirit and culture built on integrity, inclusion, transparency, and accountability;
  • Provide cross-site and cross affiliate support, including remote sites as required;
  • Ability to create documentation such as, but not limited to: SOPs, How To’s, Network Diagrams and Process Training, etc.;
  • Contribute to building a positive team spirit and ONETEAM culture while embodying the Team Values daily, assist with providing technical oversight and leadership to the other Networking team members;
  • Protect confidential information by not communicating, disclosing to, or using for benefit of third parties;

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree (BS) from four-year college or university; in a field related to technology, such as Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Network Management, Software Engineering or Cyber Security or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other degrees classified as STEM will also be considered.
  • Experience: At least four (4) years of related experience.
  • Any special skills/training/certifications:
    • Cisco CCNA certification; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • Cisco CCNP certification; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    • At least one Network professional level certification (Palo Alto, Silver Peak, Fortinet, Azure) is required or equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Intermediate knowledge of PC software and hardware configurations. Thorough knowledge of Networking in a Microsoft Windows environment, Microsoft Windows, Anti-Virus, Office 365, and the Microsoft Office Suite are preferred.
  • Intermediate technical understanding of Windows Server 2008-2025 and Windows infrastructure services (e.g., Active Directory, GPO, DNS, DHCP);
  • Advanced cloud computing, virtualization, monitoring tools experience.
  • Progressive IT experience showing increasing responsibility is preferred.
  • Experience in Manufacturing is preferred.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Travel: Up to 30% by land and/or air.
  • Standard Monday through Friday work week. Weekend/late night work is required: ~50%
  • Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long period, stand, walk, talk and/or hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee’s working environment may be loud.  The employee may be required to adhere to the Affiliate’s safety procedures including but not limited to, the use of personal protection equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, goggles, hearing and fall protection).
