Scope of Position


Reporting to the Manager – Tooling, the Inspector - Tooling will be responsible for reviewing and modifying all Aerospace tools, ranging from small Detail Tools through to Major Assembly Fixtures and Aerospace Structures using Laser Trackers to ensure that all daily tasks are completed, and all tools are inspected to meet safety and operation standards. The Inspector - Tooling will work closely with the other Tooling Inspectors, Tool Makers and Engineers within the tooling department when building new / modifying existing Tooling, trouble shooting and conducting receiving inspections for externally manufactured Tooling. Create inspection reports, ensure all Tooling is Stamped and Certified per our QMS and support external vendors Tooling QA needs. The person will also be responsible for reading blueprints and modifying tooling from external vendors.



Skills and Qualifications

  • Inspect Aerospace Tooling & Aircraft Structures using Laser Inspection and Conventional techniques.
  • Create & issue Inspection Reports.
  • Review and Inspect New or Modified Tooling from external vendors.
  • Assist and coordinate in re-work of tooling.
  • Work closely with other Tooling Department members.
  • Ability to work shifts to accommodate production scheduling.
  • Flexibility and willingness to learn new tasks.
  • Exposure to quality systems and safety fundamentals.
  • Keep the team leader well informed of daily operations.



  • Previous Laser Tracking Inspection Experience considered an asset.
  • Experience within an aerospace or manufacturing environment, considered an asset.
  • Previous tooling experience considered an asset.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Aerospace Manufacturing would be beneficial.
  • Must have ability to read and interpret Engineering Drawings and documentation.
  • Must have a good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing techniques (GD & T).
  • Must be familiar with Aerospace Detail and Assembly Tooling.
  • Must have a good understanding of Tool Manufacturing, Installation & Repair Processes.
  • Must be prepared to work outside normal working hours when required.
  • Must work well and maintain professionalism when under pressure.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office.



  • College Diploma (preferably Mechanical or Aerospace).
