Over the past decade, MHICA has built more than aircraft components, it has built a recognized worldwide reputation for capacity, precision, on-time delivery and excellence.  MHICA has two state-of-the-art facilities combined to 476,000 sq. ft.  This comprises of Manufacturing & Assembly, Engineering, Quality and Supply Chain, where highly-skilled employees are working on Bombardier's sector-leading Global 5000/6000 and Challenger 350 business aircraft. MHICA's technicians build and join wing assemblies and fuselage sections, as well as perform systems and flight control assembly installations and testing.

 

Scope of Position

Reporting to the Director – Program Office & Supply Chain, the Manager – Supplier Quality will be responsible for leading the MHICA Quality team. In this role, the Manager – Supplier Quality will address issues, set priorities, manage and coordinate all aspects of in-house quality inspection process and MHICA First Article Inspection (FAI) process regarding wing assembly and corrective action. The Manager – Supplier Quality will support aircraft assembly operations for assembled components (structure assembly), installed kits and mechanical/ hydraulic systems. Will also be responsible to coordinate and manage quality issues with the customer. Other duties include and are not are not limited to:

  • Lead and drive a company culture that supports the overall business objectives.
  • Establish processes and procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Serve as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, reporting and improvement.
  • Champion continuous improvement efforts to reduce rework and non-conformance reports.
  • Support concurrent engineering efforts by participating in design development projects representing quality assurance.
  • Reports to management on quality issues and trends.
  • Coach and fill in gaps with respect to receiving products during quality investigations.
  • Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex issues by interpreting technical data, drawings, MHICA engineering specifications and customer specs and engineering documents.
  • Reviews engineering investigation requests regarding non-conformance, initiates quality deficiency reports ensuring that they are accurate clear, concise and comprehensive.
  • Working cross functionally to implement processes and controls to cost effectively maintain AS 9100 approval status.
  • Responsible for area Receiving Inspection and Supplier Quality.
  • Responsible to Verify Supplier Quality documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Performs product / process audits on received product to ensure FAI AS9102 and MHI Quality System requirements are met, (using auditing principles, procedures and techniques to evaluate product and process compliance to drawing, engineering specifications)
  • Coaches and recommend disciplinary action. Attempts to resolve informal complaints and grievances.
  • Provides clear and specific performance feedback and appraises the effectiveness of employees on their annual developmental review.
  • Recruiting, training, and evaluating quality team members.
  • Responsible for determining, understanding, and performing the evaluation of training needs and competencies.
  • Working with teams to ensure they understand the job and requirements for their position (specify teamwork and open door)
  • Ensuring staff members follow company policies and procedures.

 

 

Skills and Qualifications

  • Strong minded and committed, focused on delivery, must be able to work under pressure and tight deadlines.

  • Ability to present data and reports to facilitate the decision-making process.
  • Hands on experience and demonstrated skills regarding First Article Inspection process and FAI specific forms and inspection records in compliance with AS 9102 standards. 
  • A thorough working knowledge of the various customer and industry quality system models such as ISO9000, AS9100 and D1-9000.
  • Advanced blueprint-reading skills for interpretation of drawings, part lists GD&T tolerances and symbols.

Experience

  • Experience within an aerospace or manufacturing environment.
  • 8-10 years well-rounded progressive experience relative to aerospace structures product quality, design and manufacture is required.
  • Leading and prioritizing multiple projects.
  • Experience providing leadership, managing staff, and effectively building an environment of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Experience developing, leading and supporting cross functional teams implementing continuous process improvements.
  • Ability to work and interact with representatives from other departments throughout the organization and companies externally.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams and schematics.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Chemical or related engineering discipline is preferred.
  • Master Degree is preferred.
