Job Description: 

Material Handler I 

Reporting to the Supervisor - Facilities & Maintenance, the Material Handler I will be responsible for transporting / moving large components and finished products to designated locations employing cranes, forklifts, or any other recommended means.   

 

Shifts  
Must have flexibility to work rotating shifts to accommodate production schedule, including days, afternoons, nights and overtime as required.

Responsibilities 

  • Operate winches / cranes / forklifts and other loading devices to load and unload materials onto and off trucks and loading docks of warehouse industrial plant areas.  

  • Wrap large components, with lightweight tarp and be able to use “Propane torches” as required.  

  • Perform other material handling activities such as counting, weighing, sorting, packing, and unpacking.  

  • Operate industrial trucks, tractors, loaders, and other equipment to transport materials to and from transportation vehicles and to store and retrieve materials in warehouses as required.  

  • May perform other activities, such as opening containers and crates, filling orders, assisting in taking inventory and weighing and checking materials.  

  • Document’s product shipment by recording units shipped.  

  • Maintains material-handling equipment by completing pre-use inspections and making operator repairs.  

  • Keeps inventory, loading areas, and machinery clean. 

  • Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds at a time.

  • Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.

Experience 

  • 2 years of related experience required. 

  • Previous stock or inventory experience a plus. 

  • Previous experience operating a forklift or pallet jack a plus. 

 

Education 

  • Completion of secondary school is required. 

  • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
