Supervisor – Quality  

Reporting to the Manager - Quality, the Quality Assurance (QA) Supervisor will support the complete organization by ensuring that the quality management system is continually improved and maintained to industry standards. This position will address all related issues regarding internal audit, tooling control, documentation control, and customer satisfaction.    

 

Shifts  
Must have flexibility to work rotating shifts to accommodate production schedule, including days, afternoons, nights and overtime as required.

Responsibilities 

  • Applies professional technical expertise and guidance to solve complex issues by interpreting technical data, drawings, MHICA engineering specifications and Customer specs and engineering documents.  

  • Reviews engineering investigation requests regarding non-conformance, initiates quality deficiency reports ensuring that they are accurate clear, concise and comprehensive.  

  • Interface with “Production”, “Engineering” and other departments as necessary to issue non-conformance reports, identify the root cause, monitor implementation of corrective actions and verify the rework activities.  

  • Plans methods and sequence of inspections and testing when written information is not provided.  

  • Execute and document First Article Inspection and incoming inspection 

  • Responsible for area inspections and FOD surveillance as required  

  • Monitors assigned working area for adherence to quality procedures and work instructions, proper use of tools and fixtures, calibration date of tools in use and shelf life of adhesives and other materials used in aircraft assembly.  

  • Verifies production and quality documents, inspection records and working copy of the PIR book (operation traveler) for completeness and accuracy on previous operations  

  • Performs product / process audits on assembly line part of the FAI process using basic auditing principles, procedures and techniques to evaluate product and process compliance to drawing, engineering specifications and MHICA quality system requirements.  

  • Leading and participating in on-the-job training and process improvements.  

  • Acting as a member of the continuous improvement team.  

  • Ensuring all health and safety rules are followed accordingly.  

  • Provides ongoing coaching to employees, addressing performance and disciplinary matters while working to resolve concerns through open communication and maintaining a positive environment.   

  • Conducts thorough evaluation of employee performance, delivering clear, specific, and actionable insights during annual development reviews.   

  • Offers consistent positive feedback to recognize achievements, reinforce strong performance, and motivate continuous improvement.  

  • Leads performance reviews, develops strategies to enhance productivity, and encourages team engagement through supportive leadership.  

  • Organizes workflow effectively, ensuring employees clearly understand their responsibilities and delegated tasks within a structured and collaborative environment.  

  • Monitors productivity and provides constructive coaching and feedback to support individual and team success.  

  • Promotes a positive and safe work environment by enforcing organizational standards and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.  

  • Addresses work quality concerns and interpersonal issues promptly and professionally, maintaining team cohesion and morale.  

  • Acts as a key liaison between team members and upper management, ensuring clear communication and alignment of goals. 

 

Qualifications 
Skills & Qualifications 

  • A thorough comprehensive knowledge of tools such as height gauge, CMM, calipers, dial indicators, and micrometers. 

  • Advanced blueprint reading skills for interpretation of drawings, part lists, GD&T tolerances and symbols. 

  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, displays commitment to excellence, looks for ways to improve and promote quality. 

  • Excellent planning skills, problem solving ability, strong oral and written communication skills and strong computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. 

  • Ability to work and interact with representatives from other departments throughout the organization. 

  • Strong communication and time management skills. 

  • Ability to coach employees on performance standards and makes recommendations. 

  • Ability to interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams and schematics. 

  • Knowledge of PCDMIS, DOCS and SOLIDWORKS would be asset. 

  • Lead the evaluation, creation, and monitoring of KPIs to identify improvement opportunities and resolve operational challenges. 

  • Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.

Experience 

  • The candidate must possess the experience and ability to provide technical support and excellent organizational skills in prioritizing workload to meet aircraft delivery schedule. 

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in aerospace industry and familiarity with aerospace parts and assemblies, manufacturing (machining) and assembly processes. 

  • Hands on experience and demonstrated skills regarding First Article Inspection process and FAI specific forms and inspection records in compliance with AS 9102 standard. 

  • Knowledge and working experience of ISO 9001 QMS and AS9100D 

  • Knowledge and working experience with Non-conformance and Corrective Action Process. 

 

Education 

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering. 

  • A strong quality background in aerospace industry, familiarity with aerospace parts and assemblies, manufacturing (machining and sheet metal) and assembly and manufacturing processes. 

  • CPE/CQA certification with ASQ would be an asset 

  • Recognized Quality designation or certification is required. 

  • Membership in a recognized Quality Association is an asset. 

  • Vocational training regarding inspection of aircraft assemblies, including reading and interpretation of drawings, manufacturing / quality inspection procedures and engineering specifications is considered an asset.
