Scope of Position

Reporting to the Supervisor - Facilities & Maintenance, the Tool Crib Mechanic is responsible for efficiently managing and repairing equipment, and small pneumatic hand tools used for production within the organization. This role also involves the controlling and maintaining the tracking of PM Schedules for tools and equipment. General Computer skills and Record Keeping an asset.

 

Skills and Requirements

 

Small Tool Inspection and Maintenance:

  • Inspect tools for damage or wear before issuance and upon return.
  • Coordinate with maintenance staff for tool repairs or replacements as necessary.
  • Maintain preventive maintenance schedules for tools to prolong their lifespan.

Pneumatic Hand Tool Repairs and Re-assembly:

  • Perform minor repairs on pneumatic hand tools as needed, including troubleshooting, and diagnosing issues.
  • Disassemble pneumatic hand tools to identify and replace damaged or worn-out parts.
  • Keep a record of repairs conducted, parts replaced, and maintenance activities performed on pneumatic hand tools.
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines and specifications for the proper re-assembly of pneumatic hand tools.
  • Test repaired tools to ensure they meet safety and operational standards before returning them to service.
  • Maintain a stock of common replacement parts for pneumatic hand tools to expedite the repair process.
  • Provide guidance to employees on the proper use and care of pneumatic hand tools to minimize damage and prolong tool lifespan.

Experience:

  • Past experience within an aerospace or manufacturing environment, considered an asset.

 

Education & Other Requirements

  • High school diploma/equivalent
  • Proven experience in tool crib management or a related field.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to details and accuracy
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy tools and equipment.
  • Stand or walk for extended periods.
