SCOPE:

Through the years and continuing through today, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America Corrugating Machinery Division (CMD) serves the growing, dynamic packaging industry with leading edge equipment systems, sales, parts, technical and field support, making it one of the most respected suppliers to converters in North and Central America.  

 

The Field Service Engineer is responsible for managing the installation, maintenance, and repair of corrugating and/or box-making machines. This role also involves diagnosing and resolving issues with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries America (MHIA) Corrugating/Box-making equipment while providing training to machine operators to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Respond to customer support requests via phone or electronically, and travel to customer sites to diagnose and resolve machine operation issues.

 

  • Observe machine operation, check for operator error, and mechanical, hydraulic and electrical malfunctions. Disassemble machine, diagnose problems, and determine extent of repairs required.

 

  • Work from prints, specifications, manuals, work orders, and training guides.

 

  • Travel to customer sites to oversee the setup and installation of new corrugating and/or box making machines. Coordinate with riggers, millwrights, and other equipment to properly position machine in place.

 

  • Install electrical and hydraulic connections as required. Perform leveling and geometric checks and ensure proper alignment and operation of units.

 

  • Train operators on machine functions and maintenance procedures. Observe operations to ensure that proper procedures are followed.

 

  • Advise customers on the installation of new or used MHIA equipment, assisting with modifications while maintaining accurate records of all work performed.

 

  • Make the required adjustments, order and replace parts as required. Set and align units and verify proper operation following repair.

 

  • Provide instructions to contractors as necessary.
  • Make travel arrangements for assigned trips to customer sites including flight, lodging and rental car reservations in accordance with established company policy. Prepare and submit documentation for invoicing and expenses in prescribed format in accordance with established policy and practices.

 

  • Perform or assist with operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements. Report unusual equipment or operational issues, as well as material and supply needs, to supervision.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Education Requirement: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • Experience: At least 1 to 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Travel: High volume business travel nationwide with little to no advance notice
  • Working Hours: Work will be performed at the request of the customer, anytime including day or night hours. High volume weekend work activity
  • Lifting/physical requirements: Regularly required to sit for long period, stand, walk, talk and/or hear. Frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
