SUMMARY

The role of Data Systems Administrator 1 is to provide monitoring, troubleshooting, and diagnostic support to Mitsubishi Power, in technical matters pertaining to operational data collection. Also, to maintain the integrity of the Data Collection and historian system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support team discussions for overall architecture and changes to historians and OSM’s. (Production/Development)
  • Participate on project teams to deliver new functionality and to support corporate initiatives related to historian connections and data transfer
  • Participate in Data Systems Change processes
  • Support data governance initiatives for historian and connected systems
  • Develop and maintain system documentation
  • Test, configure, troubleshoot, and maintain historians and other installed applications
  • Provide performance optimization and system health monitoring in support of overall health and availability targets for production systems
  • Create scripts to automate processes and correct common issues
  • Develop training for system users

  • To a basic level, understand the OSM system configuration, network, Data Historian software (currently AVEVA PI) and other supported applications
  • Work with engineering, IT, and security teams to provide OSM, datacenter, and network monitoring support services to the Mitsubishi Power fleet of monitored gas and steam turbine power plants.
      • Assist internal Mitsubishi Power work groups such as Turbine Engineering Services and LTSA in support of analyzing and addressing issues involving the operational data, monitored gas and steam turbine fleet.
      • Utilize the control logic monitoring equipment to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to data quality.
      • Support the team with adding, removing, and editing data points as directed
      • Read necessary logic and network diagrams as it pertains to detailed troubleshooting and customer requests.
      • Work as part of a project team to contribute to the design, construction, deployment, and activation of new OSM’s.
      • Modify OSM drawings to match the configuration requirements of the customer, NERC requirements, and LTSA agreements.
      • Work with corporate IT to create and push system updates, upgrades, and security patches.
      • Participate in an on-call rotation
      • Perform other such duties as may be required.

      • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS) or equivalent from a four-year college or technical school; or at three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
      • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
      • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
      • Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software; spreadsheet software and word processing software; electronic mail; graphics; technical diagrams; flow charts, etc.
        • Experience in data visualization and other standard tools PI Vision, PI Datalink, PI AF, PI Event Frames, PI Notifications
        • Experience collecting data from CSV files and industrial data protocols (OPC DA, Ovation, Modbus)
        • Knowledge and prior use of Asset Framework, including AF templates, analysis and notifications
        • PI System tag creation, monitoring, and maintenance
        • Intermediate server and network troubleshooting skills
