Role Overview

The Director, Data Platform & Business Engagement will lead the strategic development, operational excellence, and organizational adoption of our enterprise DataLake, visualization, and master data management platforms. This role serves as a critical bridge between the IT organization and our Key Business Units, ensuring the data platform not only meets current needs but also strategically enables future business growth, data-driven decision-making, and promotes world-class data governance and management practices across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Define, champion, and execute the multi-year roadmap for the Data Lake platform, incorporating technologies like data warehousing, streaming/real-time ingestion, metadata management, and AI/ML enablement.
  • Ensure the platform adheres to high standards of security, scalability, performance, cost-efficiency, and operational reliability.
  • Act as the primary IT partner for the key Business Unit leadership, translating their strategic goals, business requirements, and operational challenges into actionable IT deliverable and data initiatives, follow through every step of the journey regardless of the delivery team.
  • Provide regular, high-level reporting to BU leadership on IT initiative status, risks, and value realization where required along with partnership with Business Excellence
  • Drive the adoption of best practices for data quality, consistency, and integrity within the Data Lake and across source systems critical to the Business Units and Corporate functions.
  • Actively promote a data-driven culture and increase data literacy across the business units, helping teams understand how to leverage the Data Lake for insights.
  • Drives statement of partnership projects, ensuring they meet customers' needs and are operationally sound - Partner with the PMO team, participate in project request assessments to maintain enterprise-wide applications alignment. Provides estimates (cost, duration) for enterprise application projects.
  • Oversee the operations of applications which include ensuring reliable, secure operations, troubleshooting, and performing problem resolution to minimize system performance issues and outages.
  • Identify creative ways to reduce costs by streamlining processes and systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, Information Technology or equivalent degree from an accredited university
  • 15+ years progressive leadership roles in IT, Operations, and Finance
  • 7+ years in a leadership role overseeing data platforms, data engineering, or BI/Analytics in global corporations.
  • Proven experience owning and scaling an enterprise Data Lake or Data Warehouse platform (e.g., on AWS, Azure, BOBJ, or Snowflake/Databricks).
  • Deep understanding of modern data architecture patterns (e.g., Lakehouse). Strong knowledge of ETL/ELT tools, and data modeling techniques.
  • Knowledge in all phases of project management. Must be able to effectively employ contemporary project management tools like Lean Six Sigma, PMBOK, BABOK, SAFe and Agile Framework where certifications are also desired
  • Lead, mentor, and a team of data engineers, platform administrators, and technical leads responsible for the platform's execution and operations for direct or indirect members.
  • Manage key vendor relationships and contracts related to the data platform infrastructure and tools.
  • Own the delivery of all IT projects and enhancement requests from the BU, ensuring alignment with overall business value and IT capacity.
  • Responsible for application licenses, including leading regular license audits to estimate license overages and maintaining rigorous compliance standards
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.
  • This role will be based in Orlando, FL with multiple office locations and is NOT Remote.
