Role Overview

The Operations Engineer II is an intermediate individual contributor within the TOMONI HUB Analytics and Performance Center, providing advanced technical support for combined-cycle power plant performance, operation, and maintenance. The role operates with increased independence, addressing complex technical issues while collaborating with senior engineers and leadership as needed. Engineers apply deeper expertise in power plant systems, advanced monitoring and diagnostic tools, and structured problem-solving methodologies. This position contributes to improving fleet reliability and availability through technical investigations and continuous improvement initiatives. As part of a 24/7 global monitoring organization, the role may require participation in off-hours escalations to support uninterrupted customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
  • Monitor, analyze, and interpret operational data and predictive analytics to diagnose equipment issues and recommend actions.
  • Provide technical recommendations and troubleshooting guidance during normal and abnormal operating conditions.
  • Investigate real-time and historical operational events, including control system alarms and instrumentation anomalies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to support root cause analyses and technical resolutions.
  • Support deployment and enhancement of remote monitoring and analytics tools.
  • Contribute to outage planning, reliability initiatives, and long-term service programs through operational analysis.
  • Document, track, and communicate operational issues and fleet trends across teams and shifts.
  • Participate in training and certification programs and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in relevant Aerospace, Controls, Electrical, Mechanical, or Systems Engineering discipline or technical diploma from college or university and 2-4Years extensive direct experience of engineering design or service-related experience; equivalent experience is required. Experience with Power Plant Systems Knowledge, Data Analysis, and Monitoring Tools Experience is desired.
  • Multilingual in Japanese, Spanish and/or Portuguese would be an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills related to engineering problem solving. Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, electronic mail required.
  • Exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and participate in off-hours support as required.
  • Ability to travel approximately 5–10%.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis and must not require employer immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
