Role Overview
The Project Engineer III is responsible for planning engineering resource utilization, maintaining engineering schedules, and reporting on workload and resource availability for high-complexity Gas and Steam Turbine Service Engineering projects. This role develops resource-loaded schedules, identifies schedule risks, resolves priority conflicts, and ensures engineering deliverables support outage and project execution requirements. The position serves as a key liaison between Engineering, Service Projects, Commercial teams, and stakeholders to improve schedule visibility, resource allocation, and project execution performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Own engineering resource scheduling, workload leveling, and resource utilization planning processes.
- Maintain visibility of forecasted proposal work and engineering resource availability to support business commitments.
- Develop engineering schedules using task estimates from Systems Engineering and Engineering Managers and align schedules with project and outage requirements.
- Coordinate with Commercial and Service Project teams to ensure proposals and commitments align with engineering capacity and target outage dates.
- Own engineering schedules for committed upgrades and product implementations, including status meetings, action tracking, and schedule risk reporting.
- Resolve engineering priority conflicts, perform impact analyses, and communicate schedule risks and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Monitor resource allocation, schedule performance, progress, and engineering resource consumption through standardized reporting.
- Support implementation of new products and ensure emerging engineering action items are addressed through coordination with LTSA, Field Service, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and other organizations.
- Integrate engineering milestones into overall project schedules and communicate project need dates back into engineering planning activities.
- Ensure engineering project tasks are created, maintained, and distributed within Windchill in accordance with engineering instructions.
- Partner with Systems Engineering and Engineering leadership to continuously improve schedule accuracy, planning effectiveness, and resource forecasting.
- Identify project risks, gaps, and dependencies using lessons learned and past project experience.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; equivalent schedule planning and resource management experience may be considered.
- Minimum six (6) years of engineering project management, scheduling, resource planning, or related experience.
- Experience supporting engineering execution for power generation, gas turbine, steam turbine, or industrial projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of project scheduling, resource management, workload forecasting, and engineering planning processes.
- Ability to read industry reports, technical documentation, schedules, and project requirements and communicate effectively with customers and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess schedule impacts and resource constraints.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project.
- Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Windchill ProjectLink, Power BI, or similar scheduling and reporting platforms preferred.
- Understanding of enterprise-level scheduling applications and resource-loaded project controls methodologies.
- Must be a permanent resident of the United States due to export control requirements.
- Ability to travel 5–15% as required.
