Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Orlando, Florida, is seeking an Engineering Associate (Internship opportunity).
SUMMARY
The Engineering Associate supports the development, evaluation, and improvement of gas turbine service methods. This position works closely with engineering, manufacturing, and service teams to enhance product support capabilities, streamline repair processes, and assist in failure analysis and reporting.
Candidates should be detail-oriented, collaborative, and eager to grow within a fast-paced engineering environment. Strong written communication, analytical thinking, and technical documentation skills are essential.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support root cause investigations, including fracture surface analysis, thermal modeling, and failure assessments.
- Assist in developing and documenting work procedures for manufacturing and repair processes.
- Apply corrective actions to address nonconformances or root causes.
- Conduct data analysis for trending operations, FMEA, and component degradation evaluation.
- Create, clean up, and publish reports to Product Data Management Systems.
- Assist with task tracking, project coordination, and reporting to leadership.
- Collaborate with design and planning teams on product design and serviceability.
- Support evaluation and selection of vendors based on product specifications and quality standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION
Education and/or Experience:
- Must be currently enrolled in a B.S. program in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Science, or Computer Science Engineering.
Language Skills:
- Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions and correspondence.
- Able to present information clearly in one-on-one and small group situations.
Mathematical Skills:
- Proficiency in basic math, percentages, ratios, and interpreting bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to follow instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Capable of solving problems with standardized methods and summarizing inspection/work scope findings.
Computer Skills:
- Familiarity with internet software, spreadsheet tools, PowerPoint, and word processing programs.
- Coding experience in Python, MATLAB, or C++ is preferred.

- Regularly required to sit, talk, and hear.
- Frequently required to stand and walk.
- Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
- Work environment is typically quiet; hearing protection may be recommended in some areas.
