Role Overview
Mitsubishi Power is hiring an Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist (Off Shift) in the Orlando Service Center. The EHS Specialist supports and enforces safety and environmental programs across the Mitsubishi Power Plant Services under the guidance of the EHS Manager. The Specialist will ensure a safe workplace for employees and contractors while maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates our core competencies: Action oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self & others, and ownership
- Enforce safety and environmental policies in line with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations.
- Deliver training programs on safety practices, chemical handling, fire prevention, and emergency response.
- Lead cross-functional teams to conduct safety audits and implement 6S workplace organization.
- Manage environmental compliance, including waste disposal and regulatory reporting.
- Participate in a company-wide EHS team to drive safety initiatives and monthly audits.
- Promote safety awareness and proper use of PPE, equipment, and hazardous materials.
- Conduct facility audits, identify hazards, and implement corrective actions.
- Investigate workplace injuries and support legal and insurance documentation.
- Track and analyze incidents, near misses, and implement preventive measures.
- Ensure subcontractor compliance with safety standards and training requirements.
- Stay current with industry safety technologies and regulatory changes.
- Assist with Human Performance Programs and Workers’ Compensation administration.
- Travel occasionally (up to 10%) for site visits and audits.
Requirements
- Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree or 3+ years of relevant experience in safety, environmental compliance, or a related field.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to read and interpret regulations, write reports and procedures, and present information clearly to various audiences. Spanish Language proficiency a plus.
- Math Skills: Comfortable with basic math, statistics, and applying concepts like percentages and ratios to real-world situations.
- Analytical Skills: Able to identify problems, analyze data, and draw logical conclusions from technical information.
- Technical Proficiency: Familiar with software tools for databases, risk management, project tracking, spreadsheets, and word processing.
