Role Overview

The Facilities Engineering Intern supports a wide range of technical and operational initiatives within the engineering department, with a focus on reverse engineering, facilities management, and vendor coordination. Key responsibilities include assisting in data collection, analysis, and report writing to support technical goals and customer inquiries. The intern collaborates with engineering teams to understand project objectives and contributes to strategy development, documentation, and workflow optimization.

In addition, the intern engages with external vendors to ensure work is completed in alignment with defined scopes of work (SOW), while actively participating in the management and improvement of facility systems. This includes investigating root causes of issues and helping to develop and refine plans, processes, and documentation.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand project goals, constraints, and performance targets.
  • Contribute to engineering strategies through documentation, workflow improvements, and implementation planning.
  • Support product design and reverse engineering by working with design engineers to assess tooling and component specifications.
  • Conduct reverse engineering tasks such as component analysis, measurement capture, and data validation, while recommending design and tooling enhancements.
  • Assist with technical and administrative tasks including data analysis, reporting, CAD modeling, documentation, and prototype testing.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and initiative in supporting cross-functional teams and advancing engineering objectives.

 

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a B.S. Engineering from an accredited university.  Mechanical, Aerospace or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to understand and convey technical information in both written and verbal formats.
  • Proficient in basic math and data interpretation, including calculations involving fractions, percentages, and bar graphs.
  • Able to follow instructions, solve problems with multiple variables, and summarize technical data and inspection findings.
  • Familiar with reading engineering drawings and applying logical reasoning in standardized scenarios.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Power BI, Power Apps, Smartsheets, and other internet-based tools.
