Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc., is looking for a Field Service Generator Engineer.

 

SUMMARY

 

Select and apply field service engineering techniques and procedures in the installation, modification, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of turbine generators.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct work to accomplish installation, repair, maintenance malfunction analysis, or operation of customer’s turbine-generators.
  • Direct technical and non-technical personnel at the job site in running rewinds and other generator repair jobs.
  • Establish, create, and review procedures and tests relating to generators.
  • Coordinate, review and select generator subcontractor qualifications to support field service activities.
  • Knowledge and experience testing larger H2 cooled generators.
  • Knowledge and experience with Voltage Regulator analysis and repair helpful.
  • Knowledge and experience with generator trouble shooting and analysis.
  • Assign work to other technical/professional personnel as necessary.
  • Interface with customer personnel to coordinate work and provide progress.
  • Prepare and submit accurate reports regarding conditions, required actions and obtained results.
  • Works with Project Control Engineers to obtain a turnover for each job.
  • Drives improvement of On-Time Delivery, Outage Cost & Productivity
  • Heavy overnight travel (at least 70%) by land and/or air.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

  • Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (BA) in Engineering from four-year college or university; or at least one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Generator repair experience and experience with electrical test equipment (i.e. Megger, DLRO, Tan Delta, AC & DC Hi-POT, etc. is needed.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Computer Skills: Knowledge of database, project management, spreadsheet and word processing software, electronic mail, graphics, technical diagrams, flow charts, etc.
