Role Overview
The Generator Engineer I, Field Outage Services, is an entry level position that provides engineering support for both scheduled and emergent maintenance activities on generators and associated auxiliary equipment. This position will be a one year hands on training opportunity to gain experience by learning and supporting how to provide troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, and electrical testing of generator stators, rotors, and components. After successful demonstration of developing the core competencies required to be successful in the role, the candidate will become a fully dispatchable Generator Engineer which will require frequent domestic and international travel both during outage season and in support of customer meetings and other initiatives during the off-season.
Key Responsibilities

Provide on-site and remote technical assistance for installation, repair, and maintenance of generator systems.

Conduct electrical and mechanical testing, including insulation reistance, RSO, PI, winding resistance, EL CID, DC Hi-Pot, Tan Delta, AC Pole Balance, AC Impedence, DC Leakage, and wedge tightness evaluations.

Support NCR (Non-Conformance Reports) and RFI (Request for Information) dispositions.

Develop and review internal planning documents summarizing electrical system scope for proposals.

Interpret or reverse engineer single-line diagrams and identify design requirements for electrical systems.

Respond to technical inquiries from customers and integrate design input from Mitsubishi headquarters.

Improve generator system designs for cost-efficiency, constructability, and reliability.

Create and maintain technical documentation, reports, and risk assessments.

Provide regular updates to management and contribute to achieving schedule requirements.

Supervise technicians and provide direction during major, minor, and crawl-through generator inspections.

Provide support with the creation of cost estimates and technical proposals for assigned scopes of work

Participate in on-site meetings and serve as a customer-facing representative for the Generator Services group.

Ensure proper use and adherence to safety practices and protocols at all times.
Requirements
-
Bachelor's degree (BS) in Electrical Engineering from four-year College or university; and at least one (1) year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Basic understanding of electrical principles and how they relate to the power generation industry

Experience working on other OEM generator equipment is a plus.

Experience in interpreting technical drawings and applying codes/standards is a plus.

Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.

Proficiency with project management tools, databases, and technical software.

Must possess a valid driver’s license and a valid passport.

Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
