SUMMARY

The Global Sourcing Specialist II is responsible for the procurement of various commodities used in manufacturing and assembly processes. This role ensures that all procurement meets quality standards and is available for production needs. The Global Souring Specialist coordinates on-time delivery of goods and services when needed and manages all aspects of the supplier relations. Understands the sense of urgency, and proven ability to manage projects, gather and analyze data, and build internal and external relationships, while working in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Source and procure assigned commodities.
  • Ability to review and understand engineering standards and drawings
  • Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery speed to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
  • Work with suppliers to resolve quality issues and return defective items.
  • Maintain detailed records of purchases and supplier performance.
  • Prepare reports on inventory status, usage trends, and cost analysis.
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and contract with supplier to ensure cost-effective procurement.  
  • Manage purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to quality or delivery.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with company standards.  
  • Analyze inventory data to forecast future purchasing needs.
  • Conduct cost analysis to identify areas for potential savings.
  • Monitor spending against budget and report variances to management.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in procurement and supply chain management.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to implement best practices and improve efficiency.
  • Negotiates terms and conditions with suppliers and coordinates with legal when required.
  • Travel up to 10%;
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited college or university; and as a minimum three (3) years of procurement experience in the power generation industry; or eight (8) years of procurement experience; or any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities has been achieved. MBA/ ISM/ APCIS Members/ CSCM or CPIM, preferred.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, engineering drawings, engineering specifications for material, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
