SUMMARY
Implements process improvements using effective planning practices through applications of Lean Manufacturing and standard industrial engineering tools. This would include coordination of the respective production processes to achieve on-time project completion based on contractual requirements and operational lead-times.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support Kaizen improvement events targeted towards increasing operational performance consistent with the business plan. Work with both direct and indirect co-workers as necessary to meet all business requirements.
- Support Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement philosophy. This includes the auditing, training, and administering of programs such as Shop Improvement Boards, 6S, Kaizen Projects, Standard Work, and Work Combination Sheets.
- Support of the visual factory inclusive of communications tools, monitoring of product flow, ongoing review of progress to set targets.
- Closely confer with production management to support the resolution of problems affecting production schedules and advise of anticipated problems, material shortages, engineering changes and/or equipment failures or major non-conformance of in-process product.
- Communicate with various levels of the entire organization regarding strategy, plans, events, and results of improvement initiatives and production schedules.
- Continuously evaluate data (i.e. customer requirements, parts and materials inventory lists, and machine and worker production rates) to establish efficient allocation and scheduling of parts, materials, machines, and sequences of operation and workflow;
- Perform Time Studies to gathered data and provide suggestions for improvement applying Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Perform other such duties as may be required.

Education and/or Experience: Student in a B.S. Industrial Engineering program or similar major at an accredited University. Preference to Sophomore / Junior undergraduate students.
Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations. Logically summarize inspection and work scope information for on-going projects. Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software, PowerPoint software and Word Processing software.
