Role Overview

The Manager of Configuration Control manages the engineering activities associated with maintaining Mitsubishi and non-OEM gas and steam turbines and associated auxiliary equipment configurations.  Additionally, the Configuration Control manager reviews pre-outage preparation sheets to ensure correct part combinations for equipment supported by Mitsubishi Power, update post-outage configuration changes including customer parts catalogs, and provide product applicability & definition / recommended part configurations.  The Configuration Control engineering team primarily collaborates with the PGS Service Operations and Service Execution teams to provide definition of parts utilization (equivalence, interchangeability) and part configuration (drawings, materials, specifications etc.).  The Configuration Control engineering team primarily works within the PLM software Windchill™.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate core competencies: action-oriented, change champion, customer-focused, developing self and others, and ownership.
  • Provide technical support for defining gas and steam turbine parts, including determining equivalent Mitsubishi Power parts and interchangeability.
  • Maintain and publish engineering recommendations for outage kits and develop service Bills of Material (BoMs) based on customer configurations.
  • Prepare and present technical information on configuration control and service capabilities for customers and user groups.
  • Align engineering schedules with project deliverables and utilize tools such as P6, PowerBI, and Windchill for scheduling, reporting, and task management.
  • Standardize configuration control processes, lead training and certification, and develop onboarding documentation.
  • Mentor and coach team members, supporting development plans and reinforcing company values.
  • Lead project review processes to ensure accountability and consistency across programs.
  • Conduct internal meetings to share project and safety information; ensure compliance with company policies and confidentiality standards.
  • Contribute to team goals, foster a positive team environment, and maintain integrity in all actions.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Travel as needed (approximately 10–20%, with some extended trips).

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6+ years of experience in resource planning, scheduling, and management of engineering design or power generation projects.
  • Knowledge of gas and steam turbine engineering, including turbine configuration, design, boundary conditions, temperatures, and materials.
  • Demonstrated management and team leadership skills in short-term critical path development programs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to interpret technical instructions and manage abstract and concrete variables.
  • Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write reports, business correspondence, and present technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with tools and software such as computer-aided design, project management systems, databases, spreadsheets, Windchill™, SAP, and related applications.
