Role Overview
The Manufacturing Engineer I is an entry-level engineering role responsible for providing technical support to manufacturing and repair operations. This position applies engineering principles to develop process knowledge, support quality and safety objectives, and assume technical responsibility for assigned families of components while meeting customer and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and development of manufacturing and repair processes, including CNC machining methods, to meet technical and quality requirements.
- Assist in the design and implementation of tooling and fixtures required for manufacturing and repair processes.
- Define appropriate inspection methods, techniques, and criteria using manual and electronic measurement systems, including CMM.
- Monitor and support process performance using quality and cycle-time metrics to achieve operational targets.
- Collaborate with operations personnel to develop and document manufacturing and repair work instructions.
- Support corrective action activities addressing process nonconformances and quality issues.
- Coordinate with vendors to define specifications, procure equipment or materials, and evaluate products against quality standards.
- Estimate production times, labor requirements, and associated costs to support management decision-making.
- Apply statistical and analytical methods to support capacity planning, output improvement, and quality enhancements.
- Assist with customer interactions to maintain customer satisfaction and quality performance.
- Establish and maintain tooling, including equipment programming, to ensure process stability.
- Comply with all safety policies and participate in team initiatives to support departmental and company goals.
- Perform other related duties as required, including limited travel of up to 10%.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Ability to apply engineering principles to manufacturing and repair processes for gas turbine or similar components.
- Proficiency in interpreting technical documents, procedures, and engineering drawings.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information effectively.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to apply statistical and mathematical methods.
- Advanced computer skills including 3D modeling, CAM software, CMM programming, Microsoft Office applications, and quality analysis tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment while maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
- Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including standing, lifting, and working in a manufacturing environment while adhering to safety requirements.
