Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Orlando, FL is seeking a Material Planning Specialist.


SUMMARY

The Material Planning Specialist will possess knowledge and experience in a service and manufacturing environment with strengths in balancing material inventories with the needs of a highly variable job shop and manufacturing operation. The selected individual shall establish proactive communications with operations, sales, field service and production managers, buyers, and critical suppliers to obtain confidence in delivery commitments and strive to achieve internal requirements. The specialist shall also drive problem resolutions of multiple complexities, engage in process improvement initiatives, assist in attaining program cost objectives working with the sourcing team on proactive strategies and coordinate with cross-functional disciplines as required. Use best practices in MRP management to increase speed and automation in planning and procurement processes.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinate Buyer action reports, open work orders, and customer forecasts to ensure subassemblies and component parts are accounted for and shipped in accordance with customer demand.
Work with Sales and Order fulfillment to ensure contract compliance for material delivery.
As needed negotiate with Sales and Customer Service.
Coordinate with appropriate in-house organizations to ensure quality parts are delivered to our customers.
Coordinate with Quality Inspection on priority to ensure on time shipment to customers.
Based upon inventory counts and reconciliation of MRP reports adjust inventory as required.
Set safety stock levels, and monitor changes to Safety stock levels to optimize parts turnover and minimize risk of obsolescence.
Participate in Make/ Buy decisions for assigned Materials.
Work with S&OP team to ensure timely changes are made to avoid lateness and prevent obsolescence on stocked items.
Identify the needs for new suppliers and/or additional supplier development to remove bottlenecks. Provide predictive data to determine what type of new suppliers or new supplier development needs to take place.
Conduct database maintenance and clean up as required.
Update purchase part standard cost and lead time in the ERP System.
Ensure all Sales orders and other internal material demands are free from line shortages.
Ensure on hand quantities, material receipts, MRP data, shipping quantities and data integrity is complete and accurate.
Review open and late purchase order report routinely to preclude shortages.
Through utilization of Kanbans, consignment programs and MRP develop methodologies to eliminate expediting.
Review MRP daily to ensure adequate inventory is on hand to support production lines.
Release requisitions for purchase parts as dictated by MRP.
Participate in forecasting and inventory management to avoid shortages.
Participate in Engineering Change Request meetings to ensure hardware is purchased and disposed. Support the ECN/R process as necessary, including reporting barriers to the success of the program to Management.
Collaborate with accounting to resolve memos to buyers, credit hold issues, invoice errors, packing slip mistakes and purchase order reconciliation to ensure on hand quantities are accurately depicted in MRP system or Kanbans.
Identify, evaluate and provide information to leadership on Slow Moving/ Obsolete Inventory.
Work with procurement and engineering teams, to provide a systematic reduction of supplier lead times and graphically display progress monthly.
Identify and report issues to management that may impact cycle times, lead times, internal processing time and any other issues that may impact cost or customer delivery.
Expedite receipt of goods through Expeditors and Buyers.
Expedite Buyers Conversion of PRs to POs.
Identify and initiate disposal of excess, non-repairable and/or warehouse surplus property following procedures and guidelines.
Establish and maintain, on a recurring basis, contact by telephone, e-mail and/or in person with all levels of employees in the organization to explain inventory and property disposition, obtain information on the status or location of materials and/or components.
Participate in training courses and programs as they relate to overall business and personal development, as well as product related developments.
Perform other such duties as may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

Education and/or Experience:
A minimum of 5-10 years of experience in a manufacturing organization, with prior experience with material planning and production control.
Demonstrate a high degree of planning, organizational, analytical, and financial skills and be able to partner and communicate with all levels of an organization from hourly associates to senior management.
Any APICS training and/or certification is desirable.
Working knowledge of Inventory Management, Shipping and distribution, Manufacturing and Back-flush process, Receiving, Storage and retrieval of inventory, Kitting, Assemblies and sub-assemblies.
Ability to analyze and explain selected variances between actual inventory and system inventory.
Familiarity with commodities/serial/part numbers.
Working knowledge of ERP, SAP is the preferred platform.
Understand the process and be able to analyze Bills of Material.
Understand the process and be able to manage the MRP system.
Ability to handle a variety of projects simultaneously, function in a team environment, handle stressful situations with a customer service mindset.
Ability to interface and contribute to Lean teams.
Ability to read drawings and technical product specifications.
Bachelor's degree (BS/BA) from four-year College or university, preferably in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management or Business Management; or at least five (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience within the inventory control environment.

Language Skills:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:
Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and basic database.
