Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Orlando, FL is seeking a Material Planning Specialist.

SUMMARY

The Material Planning Specialist will operate within a dynamic planning environment and is responsible for balancing material inventory with fluctuating customer demands. This role involves proactive coordination with program managers, buyers, order fulfillment, and outage support teams to ensure reliable delivery schedules. The position also supports process improvements, inventory cost management, safety stock and EOQ strategies, and cross-functional alignment on sourcing activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure 100% on-time delivery and order fill rate.

  • Collaborate with Sourcing and Order Fulfillment to meet delivery timelines or adjust schedules as needed.

  • Partner with Sales and Customer Service teams regarding parts availability.

  • Coordinate with the Quality Department to prioritize part inspections and resolve quality notifications.

  • Review MRP reports and update purchase requisitions or orders based on cycle count reconciliations.

  • Communicate with Production regarding the need for production orders to meet demand and forecast updates.

  • Review planner-assigned MRP controller reports daily.

  • Update standard costs and lead times for purchased parts in the ERP system.

  • Eliminate production shortages by maintaining accurate material availability and order status.

  • Review open and late PO reports routinely to prevent inventory shortfalls.

  • Place purchase orders as required by MRP needs.

  • Participate in inventory forecasting and planning to prevent shortages.

  • Support creation and modification of new parts and ERP data.

  • Lead evaluation and disposition of slow-moving or obsolete inventory.

  • Initiate stock transfer and subcontract part deliveries.

  • Dispose of non-conforming and obsolete parts in accordance with company procedures.

  • Participate in relevant training and development programs.

  • Perform additional duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) in Logistics Management, Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or a related field, or a minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in material planning, production control, and manufacturing.

  • APICS training or certification is desirable.

  • Proficiency with SAP is required.

  • Experience in import/export processes and Foreign Trade Zone activities.

  • In-depth knowledge of MRP processes and inventory management best practices.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills with the ability to interface with all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to analyze and resolve variances between physical and system inventory.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret business publications, technical procedures, and government regulations.

  • Skilled in writing reports and presenting data to various stakeholders.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Proficient in performing calculations involving percentages, ratios, volumes, and geometry.

  • Familiarity with algebraic concepts.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and databases.
