The role enhances first-time quality, reliability, and availability across the Mitsubishi Power Americas fleet. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with gas turbines in simple and combined cycle applications, with preferred experience in control logic design, simulation development, commissioning, diagnostics, and bottoming cycle modeling.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop GTCC simulation models (GT/ST/BOP) to support Netmation control logic testing and validation.
- Create serial interface protocols and programming across multiple control platforms for integration in digital ecosystems.
- Improve and expand simulation models across turbine frames and maintain simulators for testing logic sequencing, protection schemes, and control settings.
- Lead the evolution of simulation capabilities, including low-fidelity, tie-back, and high-fidelity simulation technologies.
- Implement empirical and first-principles modeling techniques and collaborate with third-party software vendors to advance simulation technologies.
- Support planning and execution of simulation-based control system testing processes.
- Perform project coordination activities and support occasional travel as required.
Requirements
- Expert knowledge of digital control systems for gas turbine combined cycle plants, including advanced control schemes and protective logic.
- Familiarity with major DCS platforms such as TXP, T3K, Ovation, Mark VIe, or PLC/DCS equivalents.
- Extensive knowledge of gas turbine powerplants, thermal performance, and balance-of-plant systems in both simple and combined cycle configurations.
- Expertise in empirical and first-principles modeling techniques and proficiency in one or more programming languages.
- Knowledge of computer networking, virtualization technologies, and server management.
- Ability to plan and coordinate complex technical projects involving multiple organizations.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering required; advanced degrees preferred with modeling-related research.
- Strong skills in data analysis and demonstrated success deploying models for academic or business applications.
- Ability to read technical literature, write reports, create procedures, and present to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Advanced mathematical skills including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, SharePoint, Visio, and technical diagramming tools.
- Ability to meet physical requirements such as frequent lifting up to 25 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, and work in loud environments while adhering to safety protocols.
