Role Overview
The Quality Assurance Field Service Engineer supports Mitsubishi Power Americas’ internal and external customers by ensuring the highest standards of quality and compliance across all customer site operations. This role is key to upholding Mitsubishi Power’s commitment to excellence by developing and monitoring inspection processes, leading root cause analysis projects, and ensuring products and services meet or exceed customer expectations.
The position requires a strong background in construction, field installation, or service, combined with a solid understanding of QA/QC principles and applicable industry standards. This role involves up to 50% travel to customer sites.
Key Responsibilities

- Develop and manage project quality inspection budgets and monitor adherence for site work scopes.
- Perform in-process and final inspections of product installation and/or service, including weldments, mechanical assemblies, machined, and electrical components at job sites.
- Review, analyze, and distribute inspection reports from contract inspectors.
- Lead root cause analysis projects and implement corrective actions related to field issues.
- Collaborate with Mitsubishi Power management, project teams, and customers to deliver quality solutions aligned with company standards.
- Understand and apply quality systems as established by industry codes and standards.
- Plan, develop, and implement procedures supporting Mitsubishi Power’s strategic goals.
- Apply QA/QC principles to optimize manufacturing and service operations, ensuring product and service conformity.
- Support the Mitsubishi Power Quality Management System (QMS), including ISO 9001:2000, APQP, and PPAP processes.
- Conduct on-site quality audits, identify improvement opportunities, and drive corrective actions.
- Work with customers and suppliers to resolve quality-related issues and improve satisfaction.
- Provide ongoing support to supplier quality, cost, and delivery objectives.
- Initiate process and product improvement projects to enhance performance and reduce costs.
- Perform other duties as required in support of departmental and company objectives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Quality Management; or at least five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certifications such as Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI), or Nondestructive Testing qualifications are highly desirable but not required.
- Strong background in construction, field installation, or manufacturing/industrial environments.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and apply inspection and test methods to verify product/service conformance.
- Proficiency with inspection equipment and familiarity with QA/QC tools and methodologies.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, databases, project management, and quality documentation software.
- Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.
- English proficiency required; Spanish and/or Japanese a plus.
