Role Overview
Coordinate and implement the safety programs for Mitsubishi Power Americas Inc. Field Services within the Power Generation Services business unit. Assure a safe and healthy working environment is maintained for Mitsubishi Power’s team members and contractors. Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulatory environmental, health and safety requirements for internal and external customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of Mitsubishi Power’s safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Implementation (OSHA) rules and regulations.
- Assist with the coordination and implementation of programs that train managers, Mitsubishi Power’s team members and Subcontractors on issues related to safety such as work site safety practices, fire prevention, and proper handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
- Dispatch to facilities Mitsubishi Power’s team members are working to detect potential accidents and health hazards. Develop corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and report on and assure corrective actions are implemented to assure the safety of Mitsubishi Power’s team members and Subcontractors.
- Perform injury investigations and cooperate in the preparation of material and evidence for company use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
- Administer programs and systems that track and evaluate worker injuries that include the compiling and submission of accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
- Evaluate and implement training programs, international protocols and adaptabilities as well as nationwide agencies partnerships to assure Mitsubishi Power’s team member and Subcontractor safety for mobilizations programs.
- Coordination and administration of environmental policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules and regulations.
- Maintain records of recordable, lost time, near misses then perform analysis and root causes and implement corrective action plan to reduce future occurrences.
- Represent Mitsubishi Power’s on work site safety groups, meetings with on-site management and assure site safety programs are adhered to by Mitsubishi Power’s team members and Subcontractors.
- Assure Independent Subcontractors adhere to the Mitsubishi Power’s and site Safety Programs.
- Maintain working knowledge of new technologies developed by the industry and governmental agencies and/or regulators.
- Must have a current and good standard passport for international traveling as required.
- EHS-EAP-OSHA certifications current and updated to adhere to business representation needs.
- Maintain the highest degree of honesty and integrity at all times.
Requirement

- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university; or at least ten (10) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possess an OSHA 500 or at a minimum an OSHA 30 certificate. Preferred Board-Certified Safety Professional (BCSP) certification and/or be able to obtain BCSP Certification within one year of service as a Safety Coordinator. Current with First Aide, CPR and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certifications a plus.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Bilingual Spanish/English A+ but not required.
- Heavy overnight travel (up to 70%) by land and/or air as required.
