Role Overview
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is an advanced engineering professional responsible for providing technical support to manufacturing and repair operations, improving processes, and ensuring the safe delivery of quality components that meet contractual requirements. This role applies engineering principles to a wide variety of assignments with limited supervision while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across multiple component families.
Key Responsibilities
• Design and improve manufacturing and repair processes, including CNC machining operations and inspection methodologies.
• Develop and maintain tooling, equipment programming, and process controls to ensure process stability and product quality.
• Define inspection methods, techniques, and acceptance criteria utilizing manual and electronic systems, including CMM technologies.
• Monitor process performance through first-time quality (FTQ), cycle time, and other operational metrics.
• Create and maintain manufacturing work instructions and procedures in collaboration with operations personnel.
• Investigate nonconformances and implement corrective actions to improve quality and efficiency.
• Collaborate with vendors on equipment, materials, parts specifications, purchasing requirements, and quality evaluations.
• Estimate production times, staffing requirements, manufacturing capacity, and related costs to support business decisions.
• Apply statistical and quality analysis techniques to improve output, capacity, and process performance.
• Support customer interactions and help maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and quality performance.
• Participate in safety initiatives, continuous improvement efforts, and cross-functional team activities.
• Perform occasional travel up to 10% and complete additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
• 10+ years of relevant manufacturing engineering experience with demonstrated technical expertise.
• Experience implementing process improvements across multiple component families.
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents, regulations, procedures, and business communications.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present information to diverse audiences.
• Advanced mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, draw conclusions, and interpret complex technical instructions.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks, CAM software (MasterCAM, Siemens NX, or similar), CMM software, Microsoft Office, and quality analysis tools such as Minitab.
• Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally.
