Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Orlando, Florida, is seeking a Specialty Services Mechanical Engineer I.


SUMMARY

This role supports field service engineering activities including the installation, maintenance, and repair of steam and gas turbines, valves, and auxiliary systems. The position is highly hands-on and travel-intensive, requiring the application of engineering principles and strong organizational and leadership skills to ensure successful turbine outage execution. The engineer will work directly with cross-functional teams, subcontractors, and customer representatives, both in the field and at customer sites.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Execute field engineering tasks for turbine inspections, repairs, and modifications on OEM and non-OEM equipment.

  • Apply engineering practices during outage planning and field execution.

  • Interpret technical documents, drawings, and field procedures.

  • Lead outage teams, including supervisors and mechanical subcontractors.

  • Interface with customer site teams and provide technical support.

  • Use Microsoft Project to interpret project schedules and timelines.

  • Prepare technical reports, documentation, and turnover packages.

  • Ensure all work meets safety and quality standards.

  • Promote a "Zero Incidents" safety culture across all work scopes.

  • Travel up to 70% of the time, including overnight trips by land and/or air.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.


OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.

  • Present safety briefings and toolbox talks to site teams.

  • Contribute to team and company goals.

  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and passport.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering from a four-year college or university and a minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Language Skills: Ability to interpret technical materials and communicate effectively across all levels.

  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply advanced math concepts and engineering calculations.

  • Reasoning Ability: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems.

  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project), SharePoint, and project management tools.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear.

  • Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

  • Exposure to moderate or loud environments with required use of PPE (hardhat, goggles, hearing and fall protection).

  • Adherence to Mitsubishi Power and customer safety standards is mandatory.
