SUMMARY
The Technical Product Manager oversees and manages strategic product initiatives within the power generation services sector. The ideal candidate operates internally, leveraging engineering expertise and project management skills to execute technical projects, drive innovation, and implement strategic initiatives. This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams such as Service Engineering, Applications Engineering, Product Development, Quality, PMO, Manufacturing, Finance, Service Operations, Field Service, Parts, Supply Chain, and external vendors. The Technical Product Manager translates business requirements into technical specifications and ensures communication and alignment across technical teams. The role includes analyzing complex technical problems and developing structured, data-driven solutions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical Project Management:

Plan, execute, and manage strategic technical initiatives aligned with long-term business goals.

Develop project plans, schedules, resource allocations, and track milestones and deliverables.

Ensure timely delivery of technical objectives within budget and resource constraints.
Strategic Initiative Execution:

Coordinate with engineering and operations teams to gather and track fleet findings.

Lead cross-functional project teams to scope, plan, and execute product improvements.
-
Drive reliability, performance, efficiency, emissions reduction, and lifecycle extension initiatives.

Manage and communicate technical risks with appropriate mitigation strategies.
Engineering and Technical Expertise:

Serve as an internal expert on product design and development processes.

Evaluate technologies and methodologies that improve product effectiveness.

Validate technical feasibility, compliance, and quality of project outputs.
Internal Communication and Coordination:
-
Act as liaison between Service Engineering, Applications, Quality, PMO, and other departments.

Provide regular updates to management on status, technical roadmaps, and resource needs.
Data Analysis and Reporting:

Analyze project and technical data to measure outcomes.

Maintain documentation to track project status, insights, and lessons learned.

Use data insights to inform decisions and drive improvements.
Continuous Improvement:

Identify and promote internal process and technical improvements.
-
Integrate best practices and new technologies to reduce costs and enhance performance.

Up to 25% travel may be required based on business needs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION
Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) and at least seven (7) years of experience in the power generation industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with SCRUM, AGILE methodologies, or PMP certification is highly desirable.
Language Skills:

Ability to interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.

Strong verbal and written communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.

Comfortable presenting to senior leadership and external groups.
Mathematical Skills:

Proficiency in analysis methods including variance analysis, sampling theory, and correlation techniques.
Reasoning Ability:

Able to define problems, analyze data, and develop logical conclusions.

Comfortable adapting to shifting requirements and priorities across projects.
Computer Skills:

Proficiency with project management tools, databases, spreadsheets, flowcharts, and diagramming tools.
