ROLE OVERVIEW

 

Provide technical and professional training to Field Service personnel in the installation, modification, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of steam and gas turbines, valves, generators, and auxiliaries while maintaining records of all training provided.


 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

• Perform all duties, responsibilities, and skills required for the Training Specialist I role.
• Provide technical and professional instruction consistent with job classification and employee experience.
• Maintain Train-the-Trainer certification for Signalman, Rigging, Overhead Crane, and Forklift Operator.
• Deliver training on Safety, Quality, and Material Control processes.
• Instruct on troubleshooting complex mechanical and electrical problems.
• Locate and apply technical documentation (e.g., Field Procedures, Standard Inspection Documents, Non-Conformance Reports).
• Train on Planning Activities, including Pre/Post-Outage Review, Schedule, Tooling, Contract, and Work Scope.
• Conduct visual inspection training for covered equipment and reporting results to Service and Repair Engineering.
• Develop processes to continuously evaluate and improve Field Service personnel performance.
• Ensure Field Service personnel remain qualified in all areas of expertise.
• Develop training programs as needed to meet organizational requirements.
• Create standardized operations and maintenance manuals with system overviews, detailed descriptions, and maintenance procedures.
• Manage the Learning Management System (LMS) database and training documentation to ensure compliance.
• Utilize Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint, and other software tools for training delivery and tracking.
• Lead internal reviews, evaluations, and promotion assessments.
• Travel overnight at least 30% by land and/or air.
• Perform other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

 

Education and/or Experience:


• Considered a technical expert in turbine service and repair.
• Certificate from an accredited college or technical school and/or at least eight years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to facilitate training in both classroom and field jobsite environments.

 

Language Skills:


• Advanced ability to read and interpret technical manuals and documentation.
• Ability to write reports, correspondence, proposals, and training curricula.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

 

Mathematical Skills:


• Ability to calculate figures such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

 

Reasoning Ability:


• Apply common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
• Solve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, talk, and hear.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
The employee may be exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and loud environments.
Adherence to Mitsubishi Power and customer safety procedures is required, including the use of personal protective equipment such as hardhats, safety glasses, hearing protection, and fall protection.
