We seek a colleague to join the Hydrogen Infrastructure Development team as a Director, Regional Business Development for Mexico and LATAM.  This person should be curious and qualified in the facets of commercial and project development for large-scale energy projects.

 

This position will report directly to the VP, Commercial Strategy and will be based out of our Pittsburgh, PA office.  Candidates not living in the Pittsburgh, PA area must be open to relocating and working a Hybrid schedule.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a portfolio of projects within time, appropriate scope, and budget parameters.
  • Create and manage strategic partnerships to support project success.
  • Provide strategic support that will aid decision making through project development. 
  • Create and maintain project updates and progress reports; identify risks and possible solutions for discussion with team members.
  • Identify value-added and profitability influencers through development, regulatory and permitting analysis to improve project bankability.
  • Interact with landowners, local government officials, project neighbors, investor representatives and utility contacts across multiple geographies to advance large-scale hydrogen projects.
  • Support the negotiation of key commercial documents.  
  • Manage a team of project developers responsible for critical development tasks to ensure on time delivery and accuracy of required work products.
  • Distilling relevant insights from state and federal energy policies and other public industry sources that lead to potential business opportunities.
  • Travel:  50% - target markets will be primarily (but not limited to) Mexico and South America.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Qualified applicants will have the creativity and attention to detail necessary to develop large-scale energy projects.  Display a strong drive to deliver results, persistent in overcoming obstacles and eager to take responsibility for making things happen in a complex development landscape.  Successful candidates will also demonstrate evidence of working independently in an unstructured environment.  Qualified applicants must be bilingual (English & Spanish).

 

Experience: 5 to 10 years of relevant large scale complex project experience in Hydrogen, Oil & Gas, Industrial Gas or Power Generation is preferred and may include finance, project management, energy management, energy and environmental policy or law, economic development, technical sales, construction management, or engineering.

 

Education: Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, economics, environmental studies, public policy, or relevant field. Graduate degree a plus, but not required.

  • Interdisciplinary understanding of business development and energy issues (technology, power markets, economics, and policy).
  • Ability to quickly understand the basics of a variety of subjects relating to solar energy and storage; including resource studies, environmental studies, transmission issues, public relations, public policy, sales, and engineering.
