Job Description:

Senior Process Engineer – Hydrogen Infrastructure Group (H2I)

Summary

Mitsubishi Power Americas is a major power generation equipment and energy storage solutions provider for the energy industry. Our goal is to empower our customers to affordably and reliably combat climate change and advance human prosperity using our technologies. Our products include advanced class gas turbines, hydrogen gas turbines, lithium ion and flow battery technologies, digital solutions, and renewable energy project development including carbon capture and sequestration.  Mitsubishi Hydrogen Infrastructure Group is leading the future of global hydrogen and ammonia production, storage, and delivery, as well as other renewable technologies developments, via our HUB projects and other renewable project developments.

Now is the time to tap into hydrogen’s potential.  A zero-carbon fuel source and long-duration storage, hydrogen is essential to deep decarbonization. However, cost-effectively deploying hydrogen at scale remains a critical challenge. Mitsubishi Power is collaborating with energy experts to develop and deploy hydrogen infrastructure hubs across the Americas today.

Developing Hydrogen Infrastructure Technologies and Hubs

After having successfully entered into the project execution phase of the world’s largest energy storage project located in Delta, UT known as ACES (Advanced Clean Energy Storage), Mitsubishi’s Hydrogen Infrastructure Group is assessing, analyzing, and developing hydrogen infrastructure, technology and regional hydrogen hubs.  These projects develop large scale hydrogen production, storage, and energy infrastructure, including green and blue hydrogen and ammonia as stored energy, enabling renewable energy storage that shifts variable renewable energy over time.

We are seeking a Senior Process Engineer to lead the process design functions of our hydrogen infrastructure and project development team.  This includes process design, analysis, planning, FEED studies and integration of all forms of green and blue hydrogen and ammonia production, including water electrolysis, ATR hydrogen generation technologies, ammonia loop and ASU, and storage of these energy solutions.  This may also include integration with combustion and steam turbine auxiliary systems, process equipment, process control/instrumentation design integration and start-up support.  The designs must meet internal product requirements and specifications for Mitsubishi projects in the Americas and internationally.  Candidates should possess effective organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.  This position requires an individual who is a self-starter and can work with minimal supervision.

Candidate must possess knowledge of process design in industrial facilities, such as power generation plants, process or chemical plants, oil & gas, or industrial air / gas facilities.  Candidates with working knowledge of combined cycle power plants is a plus.

Experience with process modeling and simulation software (HYSYS, ASPEN, etc.) used in the process industry is required.   Candidate may develop simulations and heat and mass balances via software integrating the electrolysis process, ammonia loops, and cooling systems with hydrogen island equipment, ammonia ISBL and OSBL equipment, and combined and simple cycle power plants.

This position may also lead and supervise process design work and FEED studies with 3rd party engineering companies, EPCs, and consultants, as well as work with hydrogen industry experts, industry groups, codes and standard organizations and bodies, and other industry subject matter experts.  Candidate may be required to develop white papers, participate in conferences, and deliver presentations including presenting engineering design for projects, proposals, and studies. This position may also include development of engineering tools, best practices, test procedures and other engineering guidelines.
