SUMMARY

The Continuous Improvement Engineer Summer Intern is an associate level engineering position that requires knowledge of basic engineering principles. In this role, the engineer will demonstrate the willingness to learn and perform normal work assignments with guidance from the continuous improvement team.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist continuous improvement team with improvement projects of various sizes and manufacturing processes.
  • Work as a team member in cross-functional shop projects.
  • Participate in shop floor improvement board meetings.
  • Develop tools such as process maps for projects and process improvement efforts.
  • Communicate with various levels of the entire organization regarding strategy, plans, events, and results of improvement initiatives and production schedules.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

  • Education and/or Experience: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree program studying engineering or technology discipline.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Computer Skills: Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, and spreadsheet.
  • Interest in Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies (prior experience is a plus).
  • Position is in person at the Pooler location, beginning May 12th and lasting through the summer.
