SUMMARY
The Supply Chain Associate provides strategic business support services for supply chain related activities. The learning objectives for this internship are to provide comprehensive support covering a wide range of disciplines to help both regional supply chain colleagues and the larger integrated supply chain group to make more-informed business decisions. This position requires sound judgment, ingenuity, and critical thinking while adhering to established policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a general understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management, a strong sense of urgency, keen attention to detail and solid follow through; demonstrate excellent communication skills, organization and flexibility; understands the sense of urgency, ability to gather and analyze data, and build internal and external relationships, while working in a team environment. Responsibilities may require at times unassisted interaction and support with supply chain personnel and other departments to achieve various results.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of Senior Buyers, Supply Chain Management:
- Create purchase requisitions utilizing accurate procurement and cost center data.
- Create transportation requests utilizing accurate data to ensure on-time shipments/delivery.
- Systematically receive invoice receipts and assign goods receipt numbers.
- Systematically reverse goods receipt numbers when necessary.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements in procurement and supply chain management.
- Manage the New Vendor Set-Up process.
- Stay informed about relevant industry trends and innovations in procurement.
- Assistance or creation of reports and/or dashboards to further communicate corporate level KPIs and trends, uncover hidden patterns, correlations, risks, market trends, customer preferences and other useful information that can help supply chain make more-informed business decisions.
- Participate in cross-functional team training, activities to implement best practices and improve efficiency.Supporting small to mid-size data projects and assisting other supply chain personnel on larger more complex projects related to operational business.
- Review assigned business processes from end-to-end to identify efficiency gaps and address operational, financial, and technological risks.
- Working with integrated sourcing personnel to review historical costs, cost savings, usage cycle, and long range forecast of a specific commodity or group of commodities for further analysis.
- Support integrated supply chain project management, expediting, and buyer deliverables/goals (as needed).
- Compilation of training materials for business systems and processes.
- Possible collect and analysis of data related to Mitsubishi Power Domestic/International suppliers as well as competitor suppliers.
- Perform other such duties as may be required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

- Education and/or Experience: Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree (BS) program at a four-year accredited College or University. Degree or concentration preferences include but are not limited to: Engineering (all disciplines), Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Economics, International Business, Etc
- Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, growth rate, proportions, discounts, interest. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Ability to understand managerial/financial accounting practices and theory related to audited financial statements is preferred.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Computer Skills: Proficient computer skills including email, word processing, and presentation software (ideally Microsoft). Intermediate to advanced spreadsheet skills (Microsoft Excel) are preferred (intermediate to advanced skills to include but aren’t limited to: Lookup functions, Multi Axis Charts/Graphics, Macros). Preferred but not required would be intermediate to advanced skills pertaining to programming languages that interact with databases, visualization tools, and online systems (ie Python).
