SUMMARY
Mitsubishi Power is seeking a Training Program Specialist for the Savannah, GA location. The North America Manufacturing (NAM) Business Excellence team is responsible for NAM Strategic Process and People development initiatives supporting the organization’s vision and operational objectives. The Technical Training Specialist will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing technical and career growth training programs to enhance the skills, competencies and advancement opportunities of hourly employees in a manufacturing shop environment. This role ensures employees are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to perform their roles safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. The Technical Training Specialist is responsible for conducting training needs assessments, developing training schedules, and creating training material and visual aids for shop floor use. They facilitate hands-on and classroom training sessions, administer certification programs, and track employee progress using skill matrices and a Learning Management System (LMS). This role also supports onboarding for new hires, coordinates training logistics, and helps implement cross-training initiatives. Continuous improvement is driven by evaluating training effectiveness and incorporating feedback from trainees and supervisors to refine content and delivery methods.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and deliver comprehensive technical and professional growth training programs tailored to the needs of both hourly and salaried employees.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to assess training requirements and ensure alignment with business and operational goals.
- Create and maintain engaging training materials such as manuals, job aids, e-learning modules, and assessments.
- Conduct hands-on technical training in areas including equipment operation, safety protocols, quality procedures, and continuous improvement.
- Schedule and deliver training through multiple formats such as classroom sessions, on-the-job training, and virtual learning platforms.
- Adapt training content and delivery methods to address different learning styles and real-time feedback.
- Measure training effectiveness using pre/post evaluations, performance metrics, and participant feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of training schedules, training sessions, certifications, and compliance documentation in the Learning Management System (LMS).
- Provide stakeholders with regular updates on training, participation, progress, and impact.
- Partner with operations, quality, and HR teams to integrate training efforts into broader organizational objectives.
- Serve as a coach and mentor to employees, supporting continuous learning and development.
- Keep up to date with trends, technologies, and best practices in manufacturing and workforce development.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training and Development, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (preferred); equivalent work experience will be considered. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in training and development, with at least 2–3 years in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Proven experience with training programs and projects from concept through execution.
- Knowledge: The Technical Training Specialist should have a strong understanding of manufacturing processes, adult learning principles, and instructional design. Proficiency with Learning Management Systems (LMS), training material development, and performance evaluation are essential. Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills are required, along with the ability to assess skill gaps and align training with operational needs.
- Role Skills: This role requires effective facilitation and presentation skills to deliver engaging technical training across various learning formats. The ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage multiple training projects, and adapt content to different learning styles is essential. Strong attention to detail, time management, and problem-solving abilities are critical, along with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and employee development.
- Language Skills: Must be able to speak, read and write in English. Spanish and/or Japanese a plus. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role. Must be able to clearly explain technical concepts to diverse audiences and create easy-to-understand training materials. The ability to listen actively, provide constructive feedback, and adapt language based on the audience’s knowledge level is critical.
- Reasoning Ability: Must have strong analytical and critical thinking skills to assess training needs, identify skill gaps, and develop effective learning solutions. The role requires sound judgment to adapt training methods in dynamic environments and the ability to troubleshoot issues as they arise. Logical reasoning and decision-making skills are essential for aligning training programs with operational goals and driving continuous improvement.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required, along with experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) to create, track, and manage training programs. Should be comfortable with e-learning authoring tools and basic data analysis for evaluating training outcomes. Familiarity with digital collaboration platforms and manufacturing-related software is a plus.
- Soft skills: Organized self-starter who can clearly and concisely communicate with a variety of stakeholders. Time management and planning are essential skills for fulfilling job responsibilities.
