SUMMARY
The North America Manufacturing (NAM) Business Excellence team is responsible for NAM Strategic Process and People development initiatives supporting the organization’s vision and operational objectives.
The Training Program Manager will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive training program for the business unit, supporting two manufacturing plants in Savannah, Georgia and Orlando, Florida and managing an on-site Training Specialist at each facility. This role includes full program and project management responsibilities, defining scope, timelines, milestones, and resource plans to ensure consistent and effective training delivery. The manager will work closely with HR, Talent Development, plant leadership, and subject matter experts to ensure training aligns with business needs, monitor KPIs, evaluate program effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement. Responsibilities also include implementing and maintaining a Learning Management System (LMS), ensuring compliance training is completed and documented, and providing regular reporting to leadership. Regular travel to the second plant and time spent on the shop floor are essential to maintaining a strong workforce connection and program consistency.
Key tasks include assessing workforce training needs, designing scalable programs for onboarding, technical skills, compliance, professional growth and leadership development, and standardizing training processes across both plants. The manager will implement modern training methods such as digital platforms, hands-on learning, and blended approaches. Additional responsibilities include managing a plant-wide training calendar, overseeing logistics, and aligning training initiatives with operational and business priorities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and manage a comprehensive training program across two manufacturing plants.
- Oversee program and project management activities including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and resource allocation.
- Directly supervise two Training Specialists—one at each plant location.
- Assess training needs and skill gaps for hourly and salaried employees in partnership with HR, Talent Development and plant leadership.
- Design and implement scalable training programs for onboarding, technical skills, compliance, professional growth skills and leadership development.
- Standardize training processes, materials, and documentation to ensure consistency across both locations.
- Introduce and manage modern training methods (e.g., e-learning, hands-on training, blended learning, digital tools).
- Lead the implementation and ongoing management of a Learning Management System (LMS).
- Monitor and evaluate training effectiveness through KPIs, assessments, and feedback.
- Maintain training compliance records and ensure audit readiness for regulatory and safety standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO).
- Coordinate and manage a centralized training calendar and training logistics.
- Foster collaboration with plant leadership, HR, and subject matter experts to align training with business goals.
- Provide regular updates and reports to leadership on training progress, outcomes, and areas for improvement.
- Conduct regular travel to the non-primary plant location and spend time on the shop floor to support training consistency and effectiveness (Expected up to 50%)
- Perform other duties as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EDUCATION

- Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree in training & development, Human Resources, Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Business, Education, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of education and significant relevant experience in training program management within a manufacturing environment will also be considered. Minimum 5–7 years of experience in training and development, with at least 2–3 years in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Proven experience managing training programs and projects from concept through execution. Prior experience supervising direct reports and managing teams across multiple locations is preferred.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design, and workforce development strategies. Familiarity with compliance requirements in a manufacturing environment (e.g., OSHA, ISO standards). Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS), e-learning tools, and training technologies. Understanding of project management methodology and tools.
- Role Skills: Excellent project and program management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities across sites. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across functions and levels. Analytical skills to evaluate training effectiveness using data and KPIs. Creative problem-solving and the ability to design innovative training solutions. Proficient in digital training tools; experience with LMS platforms required.
- Language Skills: Must be able to speak, read and write in English. Spanish and/or Japanese a plus. Ability to create clear, concise training materials and deliver effective training sessions. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the general public.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to identify training needs, assess program gaps, and develop targeted solutions that support business objectives. Strong critical thinking and decision-making skills to solve problems, evaluate options and adapt plans based on changing priorities. Capable of interpreting data, identifying trends, and making data-informed recommendations for improvement. Able to balance long-term strategy with day-to-day operational training needs across multiple locations. Demonstrates sound judgement and discretion when handling sensitive employee and organizational information.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required, along with experience using Learning Management Systems (LMS) to create, track, and manage training programs. Must be comfortable with e-learning authoring tools and basic data analysis for evaluating training outcomes. Familiarity with digital collaboration platforms and manufacturing-related software is a plus.
- Soft skills: Organized self-starter who can clearly and concisely communicate with a variety of stakeholders. Time management and planning are essential skills for fulfilling job responsibilities.
