Mitsubishi Power Americas, Inc. in Savannah, GA is looking for a Welder

This position is responsible for performing journey-level welding such as Shielded Metal Arc, Metal Inert Gas, and Tungsten Inert Gas. Set up and operate fabricating machines, flame cutters, grinders, drill presses, band saws, to bend, cut, form, punch, drill, or otherwise form and assemble metal components.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work from blueprints, rough sketches or verbal instructions to fabricate fixtures, tooling, jigs and other production support items.
  • Interpret engineering drawings to determine materials requirements and task sequences
  • Verify conformance of work pieces to specifications, using calipers, squares, rulers, and measuring tapes.
  •  Layout, locate and mark work piece bending and cutting lines, allowing for stock thickness, machine and welding shrinkage, and other component specifications.
  • Request equipment and supplies for the purpose of maintaining inventory and ensuring availability of required items.
  • Assist team members for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Coordinate with management and other departments for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
  • Provide recommendations and general production process improvements.
  • Maintain shop equipment, tools, for the purpose of ensuring the availability and function of required items.
  • Perform other such duties as may be required.

      • Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent. Must be a student enrolled in a post-secondary education or apprenticeship program for advanced training in the welding industry.
      • Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.
      • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
      • Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
