ASSEMBLY WELDER TECHNICIAN
Overview:
The Assembly Welder Technician will report into the Assembly Supervisor and be responsible for performing complex and advanced welding and assembly of products according to established specifications, instructions and engineering drawings. This position is for 1st Shift.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
- Perform pre-assembly activities such as cutting, cleaning and deburring and inspecting parts for proper fit and dimensions.
- Perform complex and advanced welding of products according to established specifications, instructions and engineering drawings.
- Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
- Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
- Resolves problems by evaluating issues and notifying supervisor to obtain additional direction.
- Implements and identify needs for improvement by conveying it to senior personnel for continuous process improvements and quality product.
- Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing orders for supplies.
Required Knowledge/skills, Education and Experience:
- A vocational high school Welding Certificate or equivalent.
- 5 years’ experience as a welder
- Ability to perform TIG, MIG, Stick and Gas welding
- Ability to read and comprehend schematic engineering drawings and blueprints and ability to learn and master new skills.
- Math abilities to include knowledge of fractions and decimal equivalents. Basic understanding of metric system measurements and conversion from inches/feet to mm/cm/m.
- Able to lift 40 pounds and stand on feet for several hours.
