Position Overview

Examine products and materials for defects or deviations from specifications to ensure on-time quality shipments to customers.

This position is part of the Quality Assurance Team at our Primetals Sutton, MA location.



Responsible to support manufacturing processes using various inspection approaches.  Parts require inspection to insure product/process conformity. These parts may be manufactured in-house or come from outside suppliers.

  • Ability to operate coordinate measuring equipment will be necessary. Training will be provided.
  • Monitor operations to ensure that they meet production standards.
  • Inspect materials or products being produced.
  • Discuss inspection results with those responsible for products.
  • Report inspection data
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulations.


Required Knowledge/skills, Education and Experience


  • Experience in a machine shop with experience in quality control is required.
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills. Strong knowledge of MS Office.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Able to communicate effectively and clearly through verbal and written means.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several processes.
  • Organized and efficient.  Ability to organize and prioritize work.
  • Excellent documentation and record-keeping abilities.
  • Must be a self-starter and work with little direction


Preferred Knowledge/Skills:

  • 2-5 years Inspection or machining experience in private industry
  • Gage Calibration experience
  • CMM experience
  • ASQ certified Quality Technician
  • Knowledge of GD&T
