Position Overview:
This role is key to refining, strengthening and sustaining Primetals Technologies USA competitive advantage in large-scale project execution across the globe. With support from a team of approximately project managers, site mangers, logistics experts, and staff members manufacturing and third-party suppliers/ partners, the Project Manager is accountable for the successful execution of large, complex projects that deliver state-of-the-art mechanical equipment and industrial solutions to our customers.
The ideal candidate will have a strong engineering and project management base and experience in leading a high-mix, multi-site operation. He/she will also have exceptional business and financial acumen, the capacity to evaluate project performance and the ability to quickly discern which issues are critical. This leader will be a strategic thinker with the ability to deploy project execution strategies.

Responsibilities:
• Execute safe and efficient work scope.
• Provide engineer technical solutions to the highest standards in order to deliver a complete solution to the customer.
• Manage and direct all PTUS project management activities to ensure and improve delivered project quality, execution speed, and project profitability outcomes.
• Provide strong support to project and risk-mitigation planning activities to ensure successful delivery of projects.
• Provide strong execution backup and support to critical domestic and global projects as required.
• Establish a project management strategy that supports industry-leading performance in project execution and aligns with PTUS growth objectives.
• Continuously reduce the lead time and cost of project execution.
• Establish project management process requirements, best practices, and safe and effective project site policies/procedures.
• Implement Quality Management System/Balanced Score Card metrics and coordinate actions to ensure schedule, cost, quality, and non-conformance targets are met.
• Build organizational capacity through assessment and management of key positions, coaching, and strategic development actions.
• Actively participates in pre-bid reviews, sales, implementation for engineering projects.
• May analyze plans, construction contract specifications and codes to implement project requirements.
• Follows up with appropriate management to assure understanding and satisfaction of job scope.
• Utilizes financial and monthly forecasting to manage and contain costs.
• Prepares or oversees preparation of progress billings, pursues timely payments from the customer and authorizes payments to material suppliers and subcontractors.
• Participates in job site inspection and manages the onsite commissioning management.
• Must be able to work across the organization, interacting with finance and accounting as well as engineering.
Capabilities:
• As a key interface with customers, the project manager must be able to successfully manage both internal and external customers. This also includes oversight of contractual obligations, procurement negotiations, claim management, and minimizing risks such that the project execution is according to plan.
• Must direct project management design approach (definition of schedule, budget, risk, quality and resource management.)
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree
• Required minimum 8-12 years’ project management experience in an engineering procurement construction (EPC) environment.
• Experience in the steel industry or industrial projects is a plus or work experience in an industrial segment such as Mining, Marine, Paper, Cement or Power Generation and Distribution
• The successful candidate will bring a diverse background where leadership skills were required and will demonstrate an attitude which positively influences the project team.
• A familiarity with finance and project execution is highly desired.
• An understanding of job financial reports and the ability to apply these in managing assigned projects.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work closely with people at all levels of the organization and facilitate the implementation of corrective action and best-practice sharing.
• Turnkey projects execution / site management experience in steel industry with a strong knowledge of industry fundamentals and business operations.
• Proficiency in a foreign language is not required but may be helpful.
• Project Management certification desired, but not required.
